On 6/23/2023 I went to the *********** ********* ****** in *********** ** to have a procedure done after consulting with one of their doctors about a problem swallowing.

At no time during the consultation or prior to the procedure did the *********** ********* ****** provide me any details on what the procedure would cost, how much my insurance would cover and how much I would have to pay out of pocket.

Only AFTER the procedure was complete did I receive a bill for over $1,100 which was unexpectedly high, I paid it. Then later I received another bill for $1,628.82 which I thought was outrageous! How can this company consult consumers, recommend a procedure and then provide zero details on what they will need to pay out of pocket? I think this practice is illegal and should be covered by the "No Surprises Act" - I was definitely surprised.

Had I been informed how much this would cost I would have been able to decide:
      1) If I could afford the procedure
      2) If I wanted to shop around at competing companies for a better price
      3) If I wanted to forgo the procedure all together
*These are basic needs of any consumer in this situation. Imagine if you had a car accident and you brought it to a shop, they took in the car, repaired it and only AFTER servicing were told you owed them $2,800 after insurance coverage. That is not acceptable. Healthcare should be no different.

I would like you to contact the *********** ********* ****** and inform them that this practice is illegal and must stop immediately. Consumers must be informed what their financial obligations will be BEFORE service has been rendered, not after. Once I hear from their executive team that this illegal business practice will stop I will pay the remaining bill.

On Aug 24, 2023 I went to CT GI for a consult for a colonoscopy. Aetna, my insurance company, said the doctor is in my network. And it is. They had a last minute opening for the next day to do the procedure on Aug 25. After the consult I entered an office with 2 women in it and I showed my insurance card and they said I am completely covered unless there is a polyp found, which I understand. After I left the office, I called CT Gi corporate at ###-###-#### to make sure I'm covered for all charges the next day. Aetna said the facility (*********** ********* ) is out of network and I have to pay 100% of charge. I filed an appeal with Aetna and it was denied. I called ###-###-#### and they reduced the charge to $1100, which I did not pay.

Its worth mentioning that *********** ********* (the facility) is owned by all the doctors of CT GI. The bill I received, that includes *********** **** *** charge, is combined with their charges. However when I call CT GI, phone number on bill and dispute this facility charge they refer me back to *********** ****. Its very confusing. Here are account numbers.

CT GI Acct #4570311 (Includes all charges) ###-###-#### (phone # on bill)
*********** ********* Center (facility) Acct ******* (never got a bill from them because its included with CT GI. ###-###-####.

Tried to resolve with *********** **** and they went from $2400 to $1100 which I still don't want to pay. I have excellent credit and I don't want this unpaid bill to affect it.

      Aetna denied my appeal.

I filed a complaint with the No Suprise organization (No Suprise Act) and they referred me to State of ** insurance dept. I filed a complaint with them. They replied that I am self insured and it is federal so they can't help. I don't believe it is AETNAS fault. I firmly believe it is CT GI's fault.
