    Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

    Sincerely,

******* ********* issue, she took photos and I let her know I found a shop willing to resolve the problem and that i have a quote.

Driving halfway home I received a call to once again return to the dealership so the Service manager could take pictures. After returning I was greeted once again with an attitude and was asked how id like to remediate the issue. I stated i have a third party willing to fix he issue with a quote.

I was told that's not an option, He (Steve) would accept his on his own car, and that it is up to Them (Ford) whether or not they would fix the sub par work.

I/we were NOT given a copy of the safety report. I/we were NOT given the opportunity to bring the car in to be looked at by Hammonaset. I was firmly told that there was nothing that could be done since it was sold "as is". This was my son's first car and car buying experience. It was very unpleasant. From their recent response it is clear that they are NOT willing to make good on their sale. I am NOT asking for all repair money to be given to us.

the costs again. He refused. I told him that I would file a report and contact a lawyer regarding the safety issues they neglected. I'm not asking for our money back, I'm asking them to do the right thing.

Regarding complaint submitted by ***** ********* on 5/27/2025.  First, ***** is not a customer of our's, the vehicle in question is a 2012 ***** ***** that had over 128,000 miles on it purchased by her son *****.  ***** is not a listed on the deal or paperwork in any way, the vehicle was 100% purchased and agreed on by her son.

The vehicle being 13 years old and higher mileage was sold explicitly as-is, with no warranty or guarantee.  ***** signed off on this on his paperwork, he inspected the car thoroughly and made no claims or requests prior to taking delivery.   Due to the age and mileage of the vehicle, we did a basic safety inspection and state ***** form to verify the vehicle was safe to drive.   After taking delivery, the customer decided to bring the vehicle to a 3rd party mechanic who pointed out issues he found with the car.  At no time was the vehicle brought back to us to inspect any of these issues or to verify them.  At this time ***** called and spoke to me regarding the car and stated she wanted money back to pay for the work at the 3rd party mechanic which I denied.  I further explained the car was sold as-is, and had been inspected by our technician.  I provided her copies of the paperwork ***** signed, and also a copy of our state ***** form, as well as the state requirements of showing that tires needed to be 2/32" or better to pass safety inspection.  In her complaint she stated that the tire(s) were at 3/32", which would pass this safety inspection.  I will also note, it was only one tire that was measured 3/32" at her mechanic, while the other 3 were measured higher.

The other items her mechanic recommended were mostly maintenance related such as a belt.  The alternator, when purchased, was working perfectly normally, and, again, the vehicle was never brought back to us for testing.

During our conversation, ***** quickly said that she would be contacting an attorney, at which point I advised her I could no longer discuss the matter and she was within her right to pursue that action.  This limited my ability to do anything to help assist her with any issues as I did not want to put the dealership in peril in any way.

    Thanks,

    Kyle C****

    Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:

    Dear ****,

I trust this message finds you well. I recently received correspondence from the Better Business Bureau regarding your response to my prior complaint. My primary objective is to reach an amicable resolution regarding the refund for the warranty in question.

At the time of purchasing the vehicle from your dealership, I made a clear request to forgo the warranty coverage, which regrettably was declined, and I was informed that it was a mandatory inclusion for the vehicle purchase. Despite this, I chose to continue with the transaction, demonstrating my commitment to your business. Subsequently, due to unforeseen financial constraints, I had to part ways with the vehicle in April of this year.

In light of the above, I am hopeful that we can engage in good faith negotiations, as previously indicated. The original cost of the warranty amounted to $3500. Could we potentially consider a compromise of a $1750 refund, payable via check? This arrangement, if acceptable, would facilitate the closure of the BBB complaint, thereby resolving this matter and preventing any further escalation.

Your attention to this matter is greatly appreciated.

    Sincerely,

    ****** ********
nd he said that I was not due any refund because the "Extended Warranty" was not an itemized item on the purchase order and that It was "given" to me at the time of the purchase of the Mustang. *********** is the warranty company that it was purchased through and they agreed I was due a refund and that it could be cancelled. As well as the terms and conditions on the back of my warranty contract say so as well. I should be due back a pro-rated refund for the Vehicle Service Contract Warranty based off the original amount of $2500 and a pro-rated refund for the Identity Contract Warranty based off the original amount of $1000 which both are based off the the remaining months and mileage of the contract.

    ***** ***** *****

This gentleman is not owed anything from Hammonasset Ford. The sales manager has spoken to him, and his uncle works at another dealership and even he told ****** that nothing could be done. As a good faith because we always want our customers to be happy, we can give him a check for $1000.

Please advise if you need me to do anything else.

    Thank you

After some conversations with Dana and Steve at Hammonassett Ford, we have to come to agreement on a fair refund where both parties are happy. Please consider this complaint closed and resolved. Thank you to BBB and Hammonassett Ford for helping getting this resolved.
