On 5/13/23 I purchasing a dog here after spending 10 minutes or so in a greeting area. The 12 week old puppy seemed somewhat playful as he just woke up. I brought him home to find him immediately sick and lethargic. After going to their affiliated Vet on 5/14/23, the Vet diagnosed the puppy with Kennel cough, a fever and blood in his stool. After expressing my concerns that I was sold a sick puppy during a follow up call, I went back to talk to the manager to express my concern around 4:00pm. The manager was extremely rude and defensive from the start. I was cursed at repeatedly as told to leave. On 5/14/23 around 5:30pm the dog was extremely lethargic, would not eat and making it impossible to serve the prescription provided by their affiliated vet. Shortly after I witnessed blood soaked diarrhea and immediately called a different Vet and they highly suggested I bring him to the ER at VCA. Which we did. A quote from anywhere between 2,000-2,500 is estimated for the testing diagnostics to identify the true issue. Upon purchasing the dog I was presented documentation stating this canine was examined and deem “fit” on 4/17/24. No other documents to prove he had been checked prior to the sale, only verbal assurances that they do check ups every 15 days. Documents provided to me say otherwise. I will be requesting that CTBreeder reimburse these medical costs that accrued within 24-48 hours of the purchase, and should be held responsible for selling, whether knowing or unknowingly, sick dogs. The practices of this establishment deserves to be investigated. Whether they knew they were selling a sick dog or too incompetent to realize it, they need to be held fully responsible for providing documentation leading me to believe I purchased a healthy animal, that was not the case. Full disclosure, the dog had a Vaccine listed on the medical sheet on 5/1/24, but his health was not evaluated. The last health check up was 4/17/24, as documented and signed by *** ***** ********.

Hello and thank you for getting involved with this dispute. To date we have not had any medical bills that have not been paid for. We are unable to respond without any documentation which is customers responsibility to get to us in a timely manner. The original visit to the veterinarian was already paid by store. Please forward any documentation when available. Thank you

The expense is from the emergency room visit at VCA veterinary referral and emergency center located at *** * ***** *** ******** **. Attached is an estimate for a series of tests they wanted to run on the dog. My wife and I elected to only run specific bloodwork amounting to $1000 cost. It was determined that the dog has a parasite which was causing his Illness. A diagnosis that their affiliated vet failed to find prior to the sale. The bill will be under the last name Bonnet in there records. I do not have a physical copy as my wife was the person physically there with the dog from 6:30pm to 1:00am on 5/14-5/15/24. Few free to call me or the VCA for detail or documentation.

Pursuant to the ** **** ** *********** ******** ****** *********** we're seeking reimbursement for emergency medical expenses (hospitalization, testing and treatment) for our dog purchased from CTBreeders on 8/3/23.

Upon purchase our puppy physically appeared healthy and happy with a good appetite but had diarrhea, which we were told was "normal" for the breed and his age, probably due to the excitement of being sold and settling into new home/surroundings. However, the diarrhea didn't resolve, only persisted and although the puppy continued with his insatiable appetite, the diarrhea became more persistent and with greater frequency. He became lethargic and ill. We phoned the vet who recommended bringing to the animal hospital for evaluation. Upon assessment at the VCA Vet Emergency Center, we were advised that the dog required hospitalization for further testing and treatment. He was dehydrated and thought to have parvovirus which we were informed could be fatal. Fortunately, that was not the case and after overnight IV fluids, treatment for parasites he was discharged with medication and recommendation for further follow up with his regular vet. We were told at that time that according to testing, it was apparent that he had "worms" that were most likely present at birth and that the worms were taking all the nutrients from his diet and therefore he developed an infection that he was too small and too weak to fight on his own and therefore the hospitalization, treatment and further testing was required. Upon completion of the regimen prescribed by the *** ******, he was taken to ******** **** *** ****** for follow up exam and treatment where we were informed that he still had persistent parasites and further treatment was provided.

We have notified the breeder and requested reimbursement for the emergency treatment/medical expenses as outlined in *** ******* of the Consumer Rights Protection acknowledged by the breeder. CT Breeder refuses reimbursement.

Client purchased healthy puppy. Puppy was taken to Veterinarian for diarrhea. Pup was checked for many ailments and tested negative for all. According to vet statement client attached diagnosis was diarrhea which could have come from food indiscretion. We do not nor should we pay for anything other than illness. Customer has a responsibility to feed there pup the proper food and to also make sure pup is safe from picking up items on floor. We are sorry that pup had to go through this but CT Breeder has certain responsibilities as does client. Thank you
