Teed and Brown was hired to fertilize and aerate my lawn, they came several times and the most recent time left us with damaged and not working landscape lighting that cost us 8k to install last year. the employee called us and admitted to damaging the lighting and wiring placing flags in 3 locations. my husband checked it to see if we could resolve the issue ourselves, he was able to repair the wires where the flags were located but still left us with 15 landscaping lights not working on the opposite side of the property and no flags in that area. My husband spent 4 hours trying to find the damage before calling the company for help. they basically told us that it was not their problem, and we had to get an electrician at our expense to fix it.

Mrs. *********** description of the situation is fairly accurate, but there are a few key pieces of information necessary to understand the whole picture. This is a frustrating situation for everyone and we don't blame Mr. and Mrs. ********* for being annoyed. However, this would not have been a problem if the lighting had been installed correctly by the lighting company who installed it.

    1) In accordance with (******** ******** ***** *** ********* all Type UF wires or other identified cables for landscape lights less than 30 volts must be buried at least 6 inches underground unless otherwise specified in the installation manual. Pool, spa, and fountain lighting wires under 30 volts and a part of a low-voltage system must also be buried at least 6 inches in the ground.

    2) The aerator tines on our machines only reach 3 to 4 inches deep, several inches above the depth at which the wires should have been buried in accordance with the ******** ******** ****.

    3) We did not harm any of the lights themselves, which it was clearly our responsibility to avoid, which we did.

    4) There was no way we could have known a) where the underground wires were as they are hidden, or b) that the lighting company had buried the lines so shallow and against clearly known best practices and codes.

    5) We have many clients with landscape lighting and it is generally never a problem as the wires are normally buried to code, namely at least 6 inches deep.

We hope we can get past this difficult glitch in our relationship with the Maldonados. We do understand their frustration here. We'd be annoyed too But we hope they can see that this was not the result of our carelessness. The wires need to be re-buried to a proper depth so as to avoid this and other potential problems in the future.
