  Doug was hired to replace an old deck. To be clear I am filing this for my 80 yr old mother who was robbed by shoddy workmanship. She can talk to you if you would like. She asked for my help. The deck is large with 3 gates. There are benches across the front. Two of the end boards on the bench are not connected and can be pulled off. There was a gate that was spring loaded (not asked for and it swings out into the yard instead of back onto the deck. All three gates are dropping so they do not close unless you lift them up. The edges of the benches and the posts that were wrapped are all showing an open groove side and have plastic strips hanging from them. the sides of all steps are showing bare wood. The main steps going onto the deck have an uneven cut on the bottom. One day i accidentally knocked off the top of one of the posts and found that the nails from the railing do not go into any wood they are just screwed into the plastic. the lattice around the deck is not done as it was before so there are gaps for animals to get under the deck. You can feel the deck is uneven. He was supposed to picture frame the hot tub but instead built a platform that makes the walking area past the tub very narrow. before i realized many of these issues I tried to rectify this with Doug. I asked him to come and secure the bench boards. I also asked him about the bare wood on the steps. He said they don't cover them. He stated he would come fix the bench boards in a few days. He never showed. My uncle reached out to Doug to discuss the many issues with the deck. He said he would stop by that weekend he never did. when my uncle called him again Doug stated you get what you pay for. It was a $25,870 deck, a lot of money. and it is not worth it. The house is on his facebook page with a positive spin. Please help.
