    The job: replace front steps and install sidewalk with Caledonia rock face Granite slabs (stairs) and pieces (sidewalk). The sidewalk was to have 'onyx' black trim. Late Winter we received this contractors' recommendation from a stone supplier(*****). He came 4/27/22, measured, gave a estimate, we accepted. He wrote a receipt and we gave him a $4200.00 deposit (total job $8904.00 including tax). He said he would start the job is 6-7 weeks. I know supply chain problems so gave him more time, but finally started calling him. His answering machine is persistently full but he did call back twice (I called and texted many more times than that). Both times he answered he called me by the wrong name and gave me the impression he thought I was someone else. Each call he said he had personal problems (wife left and took his phone, truck broken down). I told him even if true he must call his customers -- he said he would call with delivery info', when his truck would be fixed...' but he never has called. We had a family party in his neighborhood. I asked if anyone knew him and sure enough one knew him since high school. We were told that Mr. H******s reputation was one that he shows up, does a little work, then leaves for long times, may never finish the job. Then August 29, 2022 (second time he answered the phone and called me Stacy) once he realized who I was and I told him of his reputation, I demanded our deposit back. He said he had the materials and could send me a picture. I told him that if that was the case that we would buy the materials from him and give him something for his time but we no longer wanted him working on our property. He said he was sorry we felt that way but the 'something' for his efforts was not necessary. He said he would deliver the materials by Thursday or call us by Friday, September 2, 2022. No call, photo of materials, delivery... as of today a few weeks later. We now forbade him from our property without an appt w us via text
