Over a year ago, I visited the dermatology office for services. I was informed twice during my visit that there would be no further charges. However, almost a year later, I received communication from the office stating that I owed money for a charge that my insurance company had also stated was incorrect.

The dermatology office attempted to charge my credit card without my permission, knowledge, or consent. I did not authorize this charge, and after discovering the unauthorized transaction, I disputed the charge with my credit card company. After reviewing both sides of the documentation, my credit card company sided with me, and I won the case. Now, despite this dispute being resolved, I have received additional letters from the dermatology office requesting payment for the same charge. I have contacted the office multiple times and emailed them requesting clarification, but I have not received any satisfactory response clarifying that the bill was incorrect. This situation is extremely frustrating, as I have already resolved this matter once, and I should not be required to pay for this charge again.
Furthermore, continuing to pursue this charge after a resolved dispute could violate the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act or state consumer protection laws. If this harassment continues, I will consider filing complaints with the state medical board, the attorney general’s office, and any other relevant agencies.

PS: I do see other people have complained about similar things. It seems that the general practice of this business is to fraudulently charge people.

Dermatology Physicians of Connecticut requires an active credit card be maintained on file with them for payment of services. Additionally they require one sign sign an electronic document which authorizes them to immediately charge your credit card once service amounts have been approved by your insurance company.

This is a 3 part complaint regarding this Healthcare provider.
      1. The provider does not provide any permenent access to the electronic document permitting immediate credit card charges once the patient electronically signs the document. Once it's signed it disappears and access to this contract is no longer available on their patient portal. This contract should be available to the patient at all times.
      2. The provider made a credit charge charge of $58.06 on 03/20/23 (see attachment) without providing any statement, invoice or reason why. And my insurance company never issued any EOB supporting or approving this charge. I immediately removed my credit card from their patient portal and communicated with them on 03/20/23 indicating they made an unauthorized charge without any documentation to justify this amount.
      3. This provider fails to acknowledge, address or reply to any of my messages submitted through their patient portal regarding this unauthorized charge, or to provide documentation for said amount. Additionally, pending balances for approved amounts that have been processed through my insurance company with completed EOB's have not been submitted to me for payment by Dermatology Physicians of Connecticut which is concerning regarding any late charges. I indicated to them in my email that payment will be promptly made if they provide the proper invoice or statement documentation which is in agreement with my insurance company EOB's
