I entered into a retail installment agreement with Meratas September 16th, 2020 to attend ****** School. Upon graduating from ****** and securing related employment I made timely payments on time for years as required per the contract. December 19th, 2023 Meratas contacted me via email notifying me my contract will no longer be serviced by them but another loan servicing company. I then proceeded to make my payments through the new company and paying my total balance in full after a few more months. Fast forward to now, almost two years later, I discover they withdrew $1,061.69 from my bank account June 16th, 2025. Effectively committing an act of theft. They have no legal or contractual right to charge any sort of money considering 1. My debt is paid in FULL and 2. They sent me an email where they EXPLICITLY stated they would not be processing any further payments as the contract is no longer under their servicing. This has caused me a large amount of emotional and financial distress as I was not prepared for such a large charge against my account and I have bills to pay. Customer support has not been as responsive as they should be, especially considering how profoundly wrong and criminal they’re actions have been. I should also note, their website does not allow you to turn auto-pay off without their explicit approval and you cannot delete banking information from your account. If you attempt to delete your banking information you are met with a 502 gateway error. Feels rather suspicious to me all things considered.Initial Complaint

I enrolled in a coding bootcamp called ********* ****** in ****** ****, based on their marketing claims that after completing the first year of the program, I would be qualified to work as a programmer earning approximately $60,000 annually. They also advertised that there would be no upfront tuition payments (I paid 30$ when I signed the contract), and that repayment would only begin once I secured a job in the field earning above $30,000 per year.
When I signed the contract, I specifically asked a representative to confirm these details. I was told again that ********* would only begin charging me once I was employed as a programmer, and only if my salary exceeded $30,000 per year. The payment processing is handled by a third-party company called Meratas.
Unfortunately, I have encountered serious issues with both ********* and Meratas. Meratas has failed to respond to multiple emails, and their website is currently non-functional. I have documented this in a video titled "Meratas Does Not Work", which is included in the shared folder. The contract I signed is also available in that folder for reference.
To be clear, I have no objection to repaying the tuition if I am employed as a programmer as originally promised. However, that is not the case. The lack of transparency and accountability from both ********* and Meratas is deeply concerning. They say I winning annually 48k this not true.

I signed an Income Share Agreement (ISA) with the company in 2021. According to the terms, I was required to make 24 monthly payments of 12% of my gross income, but only if my annual income exceeded $100,000.
During the first year, I met the income threshold and made the required payments. However, I subsequently relocated to Europe, where I have consistently earned below the $100,000 threshold. Throughout this time, I have continued to upload my pay stubs regularly to demonstrate that my income remains below the repayment level, and my account has remained in deferment as a result.
As stipulated in the agreement, the company had a 48-month window to collect payments. This period expired in February 2025. Despite this, in May I was again asked to upload my pay stubs to verify my income. Failure to do so would result in the system assuming I earn above the threshold, and that payments would begin to be collected again.
I have contacted customer support three times over the past week to address this issue, but have not received a response.Customer Answer

I filed a complaint yesterday, but today it has been solved by the company. Nonetheless, the company's behavior was inappropriate so I would like the complaint to still stay public but be marked as solved if possible.
Thank you,

I had an ISA with ***** ******, which was disbanded. I never completed the school, never got a job in tech, and am currently unemployed. The company, Meradas, is claiming I owe them money and they have not responded to my emails, and are stating they will take $700 out of my bank account in 2 weeks. The ISA should be null and void.Initial Complaint

I have been trying for the last 2 days (so since 2/3) trying to log in or call them to get my deferment taken care of and their phone numbers keep coming up as the call can not be completed and their website wont load anything related to log in (like they are purposefully sabotaging their own website) . This happens every month and they keep trying to blame it on website attacks (if you ever get through I only got through once in the last 7 months)Initial Complaint

Complaint Summary:
• *** Background: My *** originated with ****** ****** (now ***** *********) and was transferred to Meratas Inc.
• Fraudulent Income Reporting: On February 4, 2025, I discovered that Meratas falsely claimed I earned $50,000, triggering a $700+ payment. This is incorrect and a misrepresentation of my income. My *** requires both (1) working in tech and (2) earning a qualifying salary before payments are due—neither condition is met.
• Lack of Response: On January 16, 2025, I emailed Meratas with the correct income documentation after their website failed to process uploads. Despite multiple calls and emails, I received no response for weeks.
• Resolution Delay: After repeated contact attempts, Meratas suddenly "deferred" the balance without explanation, which suggests an attempt to collect an invalid debt in the first place.
• Poor Internal Communication: On February 5, 2025, Meratas emailed me again requesting documentation I already provided on January 16, 2025. The wording of their request was dismissive and unprofessional, stating: "if you are working in a job that you feel does not qualify for payback." This issue is not about feelings but rather about the legally binding terms of my ***. The fact that different representatives are unaware of past communications indicates a serious breakdown in their internal processes.Initial Complaint

Hello,
My student loan was acquired by Meratas several months ago from ***** When it was acquired they carried over innacurate payment history that did not reflect the full payments that I paid ***** Months later, they have still failed to resolve my balance, leaving me to owe more than I actually do on my loan. I have provided detailed bank statements, my **** statements, and Meratas has acknowledged that my balance is incorrect, but has not resolved it. I supected, especially given similar issues experienced by other customers, that they intend for me to over pay my loan.Initial Complaint

My original purchase from ******** sold the debt to **** which sold the debt collection to Meratas in October 2024. The contract could not collect funds that I no longer had a job and the payment was based on a percentage of my income, which is 0. The original contract was for 24 months only. My contract was fulfilled by January 2025. Meratas refuses to acknowledge that my contract is completed and they are required to close my account based on my contract (attached). They keep expecting me to pay more money when my contract is done. I still do not have a job and have patiently emailed their tech support since October, and left a message at ###-###-####, which only has a voicemail box.Initial Complaint

I have an *** that was transferred to Meratas from ****. I was a student and ***** ********* ** ********** and had an *** taken out during my duration there of $30,000. The amount I potentially owe is $11,000 because I did not fully finish the program nor did I make it far enough into the program to be responsible for the entire *** amount. Certain contract obligations NEED to be met before i become responsible for ANY amount. Those conditions are 1. Work in a technology related field. 2. Make over $50,000 a year in a technologyrelated field. This morning I received an automated message saying I had a bill due for the amount of $708.33 due Feb 1st. I do not meet any of the criteria in the contract as I am a cook working for Cornell University in the Cornell Dining program. I have sent NUMEROUS emails to meratas trying to get this resolved I've called their student services number and all I get in response are automated responses that have no resolution to the problems I'm laying before them. This morning I found out I potentially have two *** out in my name and again I'm still getting no responses from Meratas to get a resolution.
I'd like to know what my options are if any to get my *** dismissed because they are in a clear breach of contract.
