I recently purchased a **** ****** ******** baby from Parrots & Co. Laurie the owner was extremely nice upon buying the bird. She advised us the bird was a feisty bird and we would need to have to work with it!!On the day of purchase we couldn't take it home due to it not being weaned yet. So we returned to pick it up on May 3,2023, upon arrival to bring the bird home a gentleman brought the bird out to us in a towel against his chest and explained this is how we would have to hold the bird to work with it because it bites. When we brought the bird home we did just as trained to do, the bird was not willing to work with us it was so frightened that any movement would freak it out. We then proceeded to call the owner and explain our situation and they gave us some more advised in which we tried again. After several weeks of being bitten and have no response we reached out again. This time Laurie was not as nice, she told us she explained the bird was fiaty and it would need a lot of work and there was nothing further she could do!! We purchased a ****** from her the year before which she warned us the same thing and the bird is amazing now. We worked with it continually just like they taught us and the ****** became very friendly after a few weeks. I decided to take the ******** to a local bird shop to see if they can help me, they advised me the bird was not the age I was telling them it was and that this bird is over a year old. The local bird shop told me to take the bird to a place in ************* where they are more trained to help me with a viscous bird. When speaking with the bird adoption place in mass they also explained the bird was over a year old and unfortunately was not workable at this age. I reached out to Laurie today to speak with her about the matter and she became very rude and aggressive on the phone, I asked her to calm down so we could talk about this civilly. Laurie said the best she would do is give us a 50 % discount on a new ********.

    Business Response

The family came in to the store on April 1, 2023 to purchase
a *********, which they did.  At that time
the 15 year old son also wanted the **** ******** ********. We told them that
the ********, one of a three baby clutch, had a difficult personality.    The mother
stated the son could handle it, as he was very good with animals. The babies
were born in March, 2023.  They were
being handfed formula.  They are accusing
me of selling them an older bird.  This
was not an older bird.  We do not send
birds home until they are weaned.  We
called them at the beginning of May to say that they could pick up their bird,
as it was eating seed on its own.  We explained
what to do when they got home.  We send
all our birds home with a health guarantee in writing allowing them to have the
bird checked out by an avian veterinarian, not another bird store. The son
called the store a few weeks later to say the bird was settling down but there
was an interruption in his training and the bird had regressed.  The son was very upset because the family was
going camping and the bird was not tame enough to go with them. They have had
several months and are not satisfied with its personality or temperament.  I do not know how much time the 15 year old
son worked with the bird. I offered them an exchange when they returned their
bird for another ******** at 50% off, which they refused. I have been in
business since 1980 and have a very good and reliable reputation.
