September 9, 2024 a new starter was installed in my car by Village Service Center. The total bill was $663.17. On November 22, 2024 my car was towed to Village Service Center. I was told by John (the owner) that my car needed a new motor. My car was then towed to ******** ******* dealership in *********, **. It was confirmed that a new motor was needed and was ordered. Before installing the new motor, the starter would have to be removed. According to the dealership, the starter was improperly installed and the bolt was stripped. Due to that, they were unable to remove the starter properly and had to cut it off, making it unusable again. They installed a new starter at the dealership in order to install the new motor. The dealership gave me back the unusable starter and told me to bring it back to who installed it (Village Service Center) for a refund. Spoke with John and brought him the starter back. He said he couldn't send it back and that there was nothing that he could do. I am very frustrated with his acceptance of responsibility with the botched installation of the starter which in turn made me pay for another new one when this had just been installed 2 months earlier.

*** ****** returned the starter to me after the motor was installed. looking at the starter post it was obvious that if it was stripped the car would not have started because there was still thread left on the solenoid . if the dealer informed her when the starter was removed that it was stiripped i would have given a new starter before they installed the motor but my opinion is that the dealer stripped the bolt installing the starter . on nov. 22 we diagnostic on vehicle free of charge and found a hidden recall from ******* ****** for bad motor and printed for her to contact *******. looking at the stater it would not have started with a stripped bolt in my oppion ******* stripped the starter when reinstalling trying to blame me because they can charge more because waranty on the engine to make money. the blame should be on dealer unless they informed her before the engine was replaced

    Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:

I believe that they as a business should take half of the responsibility. Unfortunately, I don't know beyond a doubt who is 100 percent responsible but as a business that wants to stay in good standing with customers and save face, should at least offer me some compensation. I have not said anything negative about his business and will continue not to, but would expect him to take the high road and do the right thing by standing behind his responsibility and his workmanship and his reputation.

    Sincerely,
