Do not use them they tried to scam me into buying a new oil tank upon my father's passing and I'm on disability for cancer and my dad had a tank that was for heat for the greenhouse and I had discovered it and it was totally full so I called them and they said they would credit me after I made it accessible and then I did assumed that I was ok not paying for the current balance as it was well under the amount of the credit I should have received but the day after it was removed I called because I didn't get any kind of paperwork or anything for the removal no one came to the door and I was told that it was empty and I used to be able to record phone calls for this reason but unfortunately I can't with this one but I had a person that was sitting right next to me when I first called them to inquire about the situation and she was willing to sign legal documents also two other people that had physically seen the level before the removal and I said that there was no way it was empty because my dad would have filled it prior to his unexpected passing last year and I was also told by a few employees that it's 100 percent full but they wouldn't honor their own word and started sending me emails to the point where I was told that I would be charged a 250 dollar empty tank fee for it getting to a certain level knowing that I needed a delivery didn't care that I was on disability went all winter with no heat and I told them come get your tank that is for my hot water and stove but nothing was said about the fact that I had people willing to sign legal documents instead I just got a email stating that they were going to be coming to remove the tank credited my account for the balance due because they knew they were going to be screwed.. but not giving me a day to get alternative propane so I do not recommend this company they are unethical and have no problem with trying to take advantage of people

    Dear Better Business Bureau,
Thank you for the opportunity to respond to the recent complaint filed by ***** regarding her late father ******* *ropane account with Rural Fuels.
Following ******* passing, ***** began managing the property and reached out to us concerning two leased propane tanks on the premises—one servicing a greenhouse, and the other the main residence's hot water system. ***** requested that the greenhouse tank be removed, under the belief that it still contained propane.
Upon reviewing our records, there is no documentation indicating that the greenhouse tank contained propane at the time of removal. However, based on our internal delivery records and David’s long-standing service history, it is highly unlikely the tank had any remaining propane. The tank was on a “will call” basis, meaning deliveries were only made when requested. Our records show the last propane delivery was on April 12, 2021—nearly four years prior—suggesting the tank would have been empty due to regular annual usage.
On April 8, 2025, ***** contacted us and stated via email: “I am not paying for the current bill come take the other tank.” In an effort to resolve the matter amicably and in good faith, Rural Fuels agreed to forgive the outstanding balance of $168.33. Additionally, per her request, we removed the second propane tank at the main residence and issued a refund check for $38.99 to account for the remaining 10 gallons of propane in that tank. The tank was removed on April 11, 2025.
In total, Rural Fuels provided ***** with a combined value of $207.32 through the forgiven balance and refund—despite there being no confirmed error on our part and no record of propane being left in the greenhouse tank.
We hope this demonstrates our commitment to customer satisfaction, fairness, and good business practices. We consider this matter resolved and appreciate the opportunity to clarify the situation.
    Sincerely,
    Nick Piliero
