I have paid The Next Street company a total of $924 so far. My dispute is not with the $924 I have paid so far. My dispute is with the $100 charge billed on 12/12/23, which I have not yet paid. This is apparently for a “late fee”.

As part of the $924, I paid $215 (which was prepaid via credit card before the lesson) for a two hour driving lesson on 12/12/23. When we arrived at the lesson, I unfortunately realized that we left my son’s learners permit in my office and he needed it for the lesson to commence. It was too late to cancel the lesson so we drove back to my office and came back 40 minutes later with the learners permit so that the lesson could begin. He still had 1 hour and 20 minutes remaining and the lesson did end at the originally scheduled ending time of 4:00pm. The company did not lose any money through my mistake. The driving instructor/employee simply had to wait for us to return. My son just missed out on 40 minutes of his lesson.

It is disreputable to charge a late fee in this situation. I have never heard of such a fee. The company was paid for the time we were not there. The additional fee is unheard of and unethical. This company already charges an exorbitant amount for driving lessons.

To resolve this situation, I would like for The Next Street to remove the $100 late fee.

The late fee of $100.00 was graciously waived on 12/13/2023 as an act of courtesy. This fee pertained to The Next Street's necessity to reschedule and compensate for the additional 40-minute duration due to the student's delay. As stipulated in our Terms & Conditions, students are presented with the choice of forfeiting this allotted time or remitting the specified late fee. In this instance, the student is keeping the make up time of 1 hour in addition to having the fee waived. This is resolved.

On June 27, 2023, I paid The Next Street Driving School of ******/*** ***** $799. They were to provide "accelerated course classroom work of 30 hours and 8 hours of real time driving instructions for my 16 year old niece. During sign up, I was not told that it was "mandatory" for all students not to use their cell phones for the online course, but a computer.
The school emphasizes that if one is "bounced" due to poor zoom connectivity, to call the on call person and they will automatically reinstate you into the classroom where you lost connection. On several locations, due to connection issues, my niece was "dropped" while engaged in the class and on several occasions, she was not let back in. Instructor indicated she would have to make the course work up several times. On July 27, 2023, the instructor for the course without any notice, changed the time of the needed course, from 5 pm to 3pm. This results in additional course "time" and inconvenience. This is a practice with this driving school. The school continues to extend your time in the course, making it next to impossible to complete, delaying your time as it benefits them after taking your money. If this driving school has the zoom recordings, from the last two weeks where my niece has been involved, I would like to have them. On the following dates, (7/12,7/13) I called the next street driving school and asked to speak to a supervisor. I was abruptly hung up on without having my issues addressed resulting in email being sent.
On July 13, 2023 via email, I contacted Leigh B******, I explained my situation and asked for a refund of my money. He then indicated that my 16 year old niece was to blame for their agencies lack of communication between instructor and student and her inability to have a stable internet connection at home.
I want what I paid for and was told I was getting for service. Two weeks of course work at an accelerated pace and 8 hours of driving instructions. No additional classes.

      To Whom It May Concern,

Before we can issue the certificate for the 30-hour course,
Alonna will have to complete Sessions 6 and 9. Please be advised that per **
law, a teen cannot combine certificates from two different driving schools for
the full course to test after holding her permit for 120 days. If Alonna
transfers to a different driving school for her lessons, she would have to hold
her permit for 180 days to test.

As an alternative option, we can offer a full refund of $799
and Alonna can complete the full course with another driving school (30 hours
of classroom & 8 hours of lessons) or we can issue her a certificate for
the 8-hour course since she has met the requirements and refund $659 (must hold
permit for 180 days if taking the 8-hour course only).

      Please let me know
how you would like to proceed.

      Thank you,

Daughter had road test confirmed on April 13th, 2023 for June 28th, 2023. She paid $200 for a mock test in ****** where she was scheduled to be tested for her license on 6/28/23. She turned 22 on 4/5/23 during which up until June 20th, nothing was said about she cannot take test at school. Not even the mock test instructor who looked at her id before taking off said anything of law. I tried talking to someone at school and was told by Audrey that a gentleman named Aaron was supposed to call me. Instead we went back n forth on text to no avail. Then they call me at end of day on Friday 6/23 when I'm working. They charged my daughter the extra $70 for testing at *** bringing price from 129 to 199. That i understand but that was the school's fault for not informing us when they had several months and chances. All I want is for my daughter to get the 200 back she wasted on mock test she cannot use for test and 70 for not being our fault and for job to be finished before her permit expires. If she cannot get that back at least some type of compensation for this mess being all of this was paid way in advance.

      Dear Mr. *****,
We have attempted to reach out
to you in an effort to schedule ********* Meet at The *** Road Test before her
permit expires on 7/6/23. Due to the inconvenience of changing the test, we
will be refunding the $70.00 difference to discount the Meet at the *** Road
Test service. In addition, we have waived the $40.00 *** retest fee. If you no
longer wish to use this testing product with The Next Street, we will refund
the remaining $129.00. We will not be issuing a refund for services rendered
such as Mock Test Lesson or products scheduled and completed.
