According to the BBB Code of Advertising, advertisers should not make broad, unqualified general environmental benefit claims like “green” or “eco-friendly.” General claims must be qualified with specific environmental benefits. Advertisers must possess competent and reliable evidence (often scientific evidence) to support all environmental benefit claims and the benefit should be significant. BBB requested that the business provide substantiation that hydrocarbon is 'a more eco-friendly alternative' and that the business was the 'first in Fairfield County to introduce "green" or "organic" dry cleaning' but did not receive a response.
