    Dear BBB,
My son, ****, who is 13 years old, signed with CT Chiefs on Mar 21, 2024. The chiefs misled us in the fliers saying the team will play 50+ *** and prep jv teams, but in reality the team mostly play ** teams, even A teams. The chiefs decided to switch the league without our knowledge. We decided to ask the chiefs to release and refund after we found out the truth. The chiefs released my son on September 18, 2024 but refused to refund. They cited the contract we signed does not entitle any refund. I think the way that the transaction is conducted may be fraudulent - internet contract with deadline pressure to sign, no 3 day right to cancel notice, with no copies of contracts, and then switching leagues later, and basing that contract on a promise (flyer advertisement) (false and misleading advertising), which is essentially part of the agreement - or a promise for goods / services that are not accurate - no permission was given to change the league, and no option was given for a refund if a change was made. So I am filing complaint against the Chiefs and request refund.
    Best Regards,
    ** ****

    Business Response

    Date: 10/21/2024

    Dear BBB,

We are writing in response to the complaint filed by ** **** regarding his son’s participation in the CT Chiefs program. We strongly deny the allegations made in the complaint and would like to clarify the following points:

The core issue underlying ** ****’s complaint regarding his son’s withdrawal from the CT Chiefs program stems from concerns over playing time. In September, *** **** met with our Head Coach, Nick D*****, to specifically discuss his son's role on the team. During this meeting, *** **** requested that his son be guaranteed a spot as a first-line forward or top-pair defenseman.

As an organization, the CT Chiefs adhere to a merit-based system where playing time is earned through performance, effort, and commitment, rather than being guaranteed. Coach D***** explained this clearly to *** ****, emphasizing that no player is promised a specific position.
Following this discussion and our refusal to guarantee a first-line position for his son, *** **** subsequently raised the allegations that now form the basis of his complaint. We believe these claims are unfounded and are not reflective of the actual situation or the values of our program.

Refund Policy: The contract signed by the **** family explicitly outlines our refund policy, which they acknowledged at the time of signing. The contract states that no refunds will be provided after a player commits to the program. *** ****’s request for a refund is not supported by the terms of the agreement.

Claims of Fraudulent Practices: The CT Chiefs organization conducts all transactions in compliance with local and state regulations. We provide ample time for families to review the contract before signing, and a copy of the signed agreement was provided to *** **** at the time of the transaction. The claim that our practices are fraudulent is unfounded and without merit.

We take all complaints seriously, but in this case, we believe the allegations are baseless and do not warrant a refund. We remain committed to providing a high-quality experience for all players and their families and are open to any further discussions on the matter.

    Sincerely,

    Brandon J******
    CT Chiefs

    Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because: the main reason we requested release and refund is false advertising. We signed to CT Chiefs *** which is supposed to be an *** team who will play 50+ *** games and prep JV teams based on the flyer (see attached fly for details).  However, in reality the team played and will play most ** teams instead (see the attached games-played.pdf for all the games played ending 10/20/2024. Out of 15 games played, there are only two games against *** team.) We believe we were lied into join the team and we wanted out.

In addition, when we received the contract, we were given three days to sign. After we signed, there is no copy of contract being given to us, and no 3 days right of cancellation notice either.

Based on the contract handling and false advertising on the flyer, we believe we are entitled to get refund.

    Sincerely,

    ** ****

    Dear BBB,

I finally received a copy of Nick's contract on 10/24/2024. The contract does not look valid, there is no valid signature, no timestamp, no audit trail and there is no way for authentication. Please see attached copy for verification.

Based on the facts that I did not receive a copy of contract after I sign and when I asked for a copy, the contract is invalid, can you please contact Chiefs for refund?

    Thanks
