I arrived at the ** ************** lot at 5:30AM, on Saturday, 9/26/23, and inquired about a flea market vendor space. I was directed to a pink-shirted male that showed me to an empty can space. After he left, a vendor (pictured in red shorts) began to taunt me about the space belonging to a regular vendor and have you I was not a regular. As I attempted to move out of the space, I was blocked by another vendor (pictured in brown pants) as he attempted to drive into his “regular” space. Vendor in red shorts then asked him to back up so I could move out. Luckily the pink-shirted male came up, apologized that he’d made a mistake, then moved me to another space. Around 1:00PM, my sister relieved me for a how do you break and overheard the “regulars” surrounding my space talking about how they have to ban together to keep out the new vendors. I left around 2:00PM, attempted to leave the lot but did not see an open exit. I approached an MPD officer, who ***** directed me to a blocked exit. As I approached a li it, I encountered a *** *******, who shouted to slow down on “my lot.” She also insinuated by her tone that if I challenge her, I would not be allowed back. I am ** years old and I continued to be told to slow down — while at a stop — and she also repeated it was “my lot.” As a recall, that land is owned by the Feds and leased to DC. *** ******* is a chameleon, dictatorial, and disrespectful. I suspect that what I witnessed is her normal demeanor of intimidation and why you don’t hear complaints —vendors are scared of being asked to leave/not return. I did not disrespect *** *******. I am not intimidated. The high $40.00 fee is more than any area market for the space, and it does not reflect the foot traffic I was told to expect over the phone. I had vendors constantly blocking my space and lost business as a result of it (see photo). I would like an apology for treatment by *** ******* and a refund of my $40.00.
