On 07/05/2023, my vehicle experienced a sudden battery failure while I was in Washington, D.C. I managed to reach Georgia BP , where *** *** attended to my car. After an inspection, he advised first that the alternator needed replacement. Trusting their expertise, I consented to the repairs, and I was charged nearly $1000 for the services rendered. But only about 8 hours after I picked up my car, I found the car died again around 2 in the morning so that I had to take a **** to get to my hotel. I sent my car back to the shop, and *** *** advised this time that I should replace the battery, which I followed (costed another ~$500). However, to my dismay, my car encountered the same issue just one week later, leaving me stranded once again. This time, I decided to have my vehicle inspected by the authorized *** dealer in Boston, where I reside. Upon their evaluation on 07/20/2023, they made a surprising discovery - the battery was not properly installed and was loosely moving around, leading to a gradual battery discharge while the car was parked. The inadequate installation performed at Georgia BP was the root cause of my recurring battery problems. As a result of BP Mechanic's negligent work, I was forced to pay over $400 for the *** dealer's inspection and correction of their mistakes. Not only did I suffer financial loss, but I also experienced significant inconvenience and anxiety due to their unprofessional service. Therefore, I am writing to formally request a full refund for the services provided by BP Mechanic Shop. I believe it is only fair that they reimburse me for the expenses I incurred in rectifying their careless workmanship. I could provide copies of the receipts and documentation from both BP Mechanic Shop and the *** dealer as evidence of the services performed and the subsequent repairs.

    Business Response

    Date: 08/12/2023

The customer came in on 7/6/23 with a 2014 *** with multiple problems, which my head mechanic started fixing. We told the customer that we need to start with replacing the alternator and see what other error codes will come up afterwards. We replaced the alternator and notes on the invoice that additional repairs were required. On 7/10/23 we replaced brake pads and rotors and sensor. We also said that the battery replacement was required. On 7/12/23 we replaced the battery with the OEM battery from the *** Dealership. The battery they sent us did not fit correctly (was a little smaller), even though it was supposed to be the appropriate battery per the car VIN. This is probably because the battery housing was modified earlier at another auto repair facility to fit the non-OEM battery. We made the OEM battery work by adding attaching a metal pin to hold the battery in place. We told the customer about this issue, and that this was the appropriate OEM *** battery for this vehicle. Everything was fine during the test drive. Apparently, the issue happened when the customer drove from Washington, DC and Massachusetts.

It is not fair for the customer to request a refund for the alternator, brake repair, air filter replacement, and an oil change, when there was an issue with the battery, which was not even caused by our shop. We would be willing to provide a discount on the battery service, but would like to see the *** invoice from Massachusetts to see how the dealership fxed the issue of the wrong battery size.
