    On November 6, 2024, I had surgery at Sibley Memorial Hospital after receiving a written cost estimate of $535. After surgery, I was billed $994, nearly double the estimate.When I disputed this in December 2024, Sibley responded on January 17, 2025, acknowledging: "The Estimate letter didn't include the fees for pharmacy, medical/surgical supplies/device, labs, anesthesia and the pulmonary function (oxygen therapy)." These are not optional extras but fundamental components of any surgery.Despite multiple attempts to resolve this issue (calls in December, written disputes on January 17 and calls again on February 20 and 28), Sibley maintains "it was just an estimate" and refuses to adjust the charges. I spoke to ****, an escalation specialist, on Feb 28th, and she says that in her 15 years at Sibley she's brought this problem up with management many times. Things like anesthesia, recovery rooms, etc. are regularly not included in estimates for surgery. My insurance carrier (****) confirmed all procedures were approved, indicating this is not an insurance issue but a problem with Sibley's business practices.Additionally, I developed a Klebsiella aerogenes bacterial infection in my surgical wound, diagnosed during my post-operative appointment. This hospital-associated infection required additional medical treatment and extended my recovery.I am seeking:Adjustment of my bill to the originally estimated amount of $535 Investigation of the infection and appropriate compensation for additional medical expenses Improved transparency in Sibley's billing and infection control practices I have already filed complaints with the ** ********************************************* regarding the deceptive billing practices.

    I had a urinalysis and urine culture with sensitive and the cost was $2366.00.I did not have a complicated surgery, it was simply a urine test. This is ludicrous. My insurance paid $2209.86 but now Im stuck paying $156.14. The facility has marked up the cost of this test astronomically. This feels like fraud.

    My husband went to the Sibley ER twice for ileitis and ended up in a hospital room for 12 hours on Nov 29 and 30, 2023. So far he has been billed $735 and expects to be billed another $350. We did our research, using consumer tools like *********** and the *********** Blue Book to discover he was being massively overcharged for a number of things the hospital provided. When we approached the hospitals revenue cycle administrator, *************************************, about this, he was rude and dismissive. We have not paid yet because we are hoping for a formal dispute process, which ***************************** has so far denied us. All we want is a completely itemized list of services provided (divided into medical care and facility fees) and good faith negotiations from the hospital for relief from their predatory billing practices.

    I was double billed for my annual mammogram by the *************************************** at Sibley Memorial Hospital. I have spent a year trying to get this issue resolved and spent over 50 hours speaking with the billing department. In February, I received my annual mammogram. They called me back a week later and asked that I return for additional images as the set they took were not comprehensive. I was traveling on business and unable to return for additional imaging for a few weeks. I returned in March and had the additional images taken. Instead of billing this as part of my annual mammogram, they billed it is a second mammogram, which is not covered by my insurance and resulting in a large bill.

    To whom it may concern,

    Pursuant to the attached complaint inquiry filed by **** ****** ****** concerning services provided by Sibley Memorial Hospital on 2/2/2022 and 3/2/2022. Below is a summary of the events as provided by the Sibley Hospital Breast Center manager.

    **** ****** presented for her annual Mammography on 2/2/2023, based on those scans there was a finding in patients left breast and the physician recommended the patient return for additional images to rule out any concerns.

    The patient was notified of this request and scheduled for additional test to be performed on 3/2/2022,

    **** ****** returned for additional images on 3/2/2022, these additional images indicated that there were no negative findings and the patient was cleared.
    It is not uncommon for a patient to be notified of finding and additional images being requested. It is up to the patient to comply with this request or not.

    Thank you in advance for your time and consideration regarding this matter.

    Sincerely;
    ***** *************
