    Rental Vacation Property, ** ***** ******, Dewey Beach, DE June 17- June 24, $5000.00 Significant maintenance problems with the property, ongoing construction; fire lane blocked by trailer during our stay, despite being assured that the trailer would be gone. No current safety inspection. There was no power on two walls in the Master bedroom upstairs-- there were no lights in the room or outlets to charge our cell phones next to the beds. When the handy man came out to look at it as well as other items and told me that he remembered that this was the unit where water damage had shorted the plug near the windows, and he had identified that the owner needed to get an electrician out to fix it. All of the Beach side doors on the unit need significant maintenance/repair. One of the two doors on the main level could not be opened at all. The other door on the main level was able to be fixed by cleaning and lubricating the rails. The upstairs had similar issues. In fact, the left door upstairs is not sealed. As a result, we had to listen to the wind all night long especially on the couple of nights where the wind was up around 30 mph. The dryer was another issue that was resolved on Thursday, two days prior to our departure. Then of course, there was the fact that 5 of the 6 lights in the kitchen were burnt out (replaced by the handyman), a can opener that was broken and a water hose for rinsing off your feet at the entrance that was not connected because the outlet leaks and needs a plumber to come out and fix/replace it. The garbage disposal also did not work; there was a screen on the sink and a sign telling folks not to let anything go into the sink. It made a noise but does not work! The toilet in the master bedroom also does not function properly. The handyman said that a plumber needs to come out and either fix it or replace it. Despite several emails requesting a partial refund, the owner cannot be reached, and Caldwell cannot resolve the request.
