  • Customer Complaint:

    Businesses across the country are receiving invoices by fax and mail for yellow page advertising that they dispute ever ordering or receiving.  The invoices indicate that the amount is past due and is being referred to collection.  The address for the American Yellow Group, Inc that is listed on the invoice is from Varna, Bulgaria,  the telephone numbers listed on the paperwork link to 800 numbers that do not always reach the firm.  If not paid, a notice from a collection agency, General Credit Protection Inc is received.  Consumers are advised to confirm that services were solicited and performed before paying any invoices, if questions arise you should be able to contact the business that sent the invoice.     BBB files indicate that responses are sometimes received, but the responses have come from General Credit Protection, Inc at the 2020 Pennsylvania Avenue address in Washington, DC  and indicate that the account has been reduced to zero, with no further collection attempts being made.  BBB asked General Credit Protection to confirm its relationship to American Yellow Group, they responded by saying there was no relationship. However, the Federal Trade Commission has filed an action in US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, Eastern Division against these parties who are apparently owned by the same person; Mr. Ivan Chernev.  Please see the Government Actions section below for details on this case.
