My 1st trip to Ghana from December 2024 - January 2025, and it was not what was promised nor anticipated. I made the best of the 10 days, however, the services provided by the agent/tour guide seemed to be more of what his interests were instead of the interests of the group. There were days we had down time, and could have had tours scheduled, or did some exploring in Accra. No suggestions or resources were offered to give us options. When I asked, I was given a vague response. Also, although it was generous of the agent/tour guide's family to cook for our group, we wanted to be able to eat at local restaurants or have an option to do so. He never asked where we wanted to eat, or what we wanted to do. 3 nights of eating at a family member's home is not what I asked or wanted to do. Traveling all that way from the U.S., I would have enjoyed at least a night of eating at a moderate to high-end restaurant. Also, when asked to explore more of Accra, instead of the area we were in, my question and request was ignored. Again, he took us where he wanted to go, or where he thought we should go. Very disappointed, and feel that I was overcharged for what was offered. He also booked us in a 2 star hotel, that was (obviously) lacking in the amenities I expected. As I told the agent/tour guide, we should have been given the option to stay at a 2 star or 4/5 star hotel. He obviously wanted to have more money for himself, and in turn give the money to his family. Which is fine and understood, but not the way things went. Also, some of us in the group had luggage that did not arrive on the day we arrived in Accra. I found out that he kept the refund from the airline, because one of the other travelers saw the refund exchange at their airport office window. He even had the nerve to ask us for additional money, $300, to go toward food and other expenses.
