  On August 15, 2024, an Expert Wire technician visited us to provide an estimate for installing an EV charger we already purchased. The task was to add a 50 Amp circuit breaker, a surge protector, and a 220-volt plug receptacle next to the electrical panel. We had already received an estimate for $720, which included all parts.
  Upon arrival, the technician mentioned he could complete the job that same day and that the $89 estimate fee would be credited if we decided to proceed. After communication with his office, he provided an estimate of $2,709. I mentioned that his price was not competitive. He claimed the parts were expensive and the job would take time, continuing to pressure me to decide immediately to have the $89 fee waived.
  I chose not to proceed for two main reasons: 1) Expert Wire's estimate was 3-1/2 times higher than the competitive quote, and 2) I felt there was unethical pressure and a clear lack of transparency.
  I usually do not seek more than two estimates for any project, I decided to get a third estimate to verify whether their high price combined with the $89 credit was a gimmick. The third estimate came in at $800. I chose the $800 estimate from a licensed electrician, and the job was completed in less than two hours.
  I contacted the Expert Wire office to express my concerns and was promised that the $89 would be refunded back to my account. However, the refund never appeared. I called again today to confirm, and the same person acknowledged that the refund had not been issued, even though it had been promised, which only adds to the integrity and trust issues with Expert Wire.
  I usually refrain from writing negative reviews, as I understand companies can make mistakes. However, this experience was so extreme in its use of gimmicks and tactics to take advantage of customers that I felt compelled to share it. I hope to help others avoid falling into the same trap of high-pressure, unethical behavior and overpaying well above the market value.
