    Our complaint concerns work performed by Lawns Unlimited on June 10 from 11 AM to 4:30 PM and finished on Monday, June 17, 2024 from 8 AM to 10 AM, with payment by check in full to the employee who did the work at time of departure, from Lawns Unlimited invoice delivered by email a few days earlier.     Lawns Unlimited has continued to invoice for this amount paid in full. Outstanding bills can harm credit scores. Payment has not been acknowledge in any way nor phone calls to owner /manager returned.


    Lawns unlimited agreed verbally on phone to send workers to add two zones of drip lines to our system charging for time and materials. The invoice emailed, did not list time and materials. I kept track of time and materials on my own. The emailed invoice I paid in full as billed even though it was about 20% higher than time and materials. Since then This contractor is still sending us an invoice for this paid in full project which could damage our credit.

    Specifically, we had one new zone added and about 50 new drip lines with heads added to our irrigation system. The job was done with 2 employees here on two days for a total of 9 hours with travel time, ten minutes at most from their office yard a mile away, so to be generous round it up to 10 hours total work and travel. The rate first quoted was $150 per hour, then Lawns Unlimited office upped their rate to $180 per hour for this service on a phone call. I priced the materials used on Amazon and they fall under $200.
    By my calculation the invoice total should have been $2,000 total. The invoice was for $2,495 and that amount was paid promptly by check handed to the worker at end of work on June 17.

    Due to previous issues with Lawns Unlimited in 2022 (when opening the irrigation (April 16, 2022)) the technician had an issue with a cracked PBB pipe. He said he would be right back to fix it. (the tech arrived unannounced and knocked on door instead of scheduling appt). On May 12, I reached out to LU stating technician never came back. They said they needed our authorization. Questioned why the tech said be right back and never said needed anything else-no answer to that. May 27, 2022, still no irrigation on. June 5th technician shows up unannounced to fix pipe. June 8th, I email LU that irrigation wasn't working. They said they would send out but would be a service charge. Back and forth I said I refused to pay since they didn't confirm with homeowner that system was working. Since I paid for full year in advance, I just dealt with the inconvenience of creating pressure each morning so irrigation would work. After this experience, I decided I wouldn't use them again, so I contracted with another company for 2023. Much to my surprise, in May, 2023 someone from LU knocked on door and said they were there to open up irrigation. I told them we aren't using them as we signed with another company. I told them we didn't sign any agreement for 2023 due to poor service. One morning in May, someone stopped by and said they were there to open up irrigation. My wife was only one home and she thought it was new company so she let them in. This happened to be Lawns Unlimited-who was not authorized to do work. I have reached out with letters explaining this with no response from them except that we owe them for the work. I refuse to pay for work that was not requested. They said that if 'they did the work the previous year, they automatically come back the next year'. This is not an implied contract to continue work into the future (previously I signed contract for work). I had to pay another company for work due to signing a contract.
