    I highly recommend Closer to the Hearth for your fireplace needs. John Zeron is knowledgeable and professional. I’ve had three conversations with him concerning my fireplace repairs and stove install. I’ve spoken to several other chimney sweeps and none come close to his knowledge. Today we generated a plan and budget and I’m excited to have him inspect and start our fireplace project. I’ll update this post as work progresses.

    I am eager to get started on your project. One of our key philosophies is to make sure the work we offer will fill the need of our client. That process, as you point out, relies upon proper inspection such as a level 2. But, equally important is spending time with our client to dig into what they really want from their system.     I have only recently become a Closer to the Hearth customer but in that short time I have been very impressed with their work and professionalism. Not only do they take the time and effort to do great work, they also take the time to explain what they are doing and why they are doing it. When we reached out for what I thought was a routine cleaning, they came in and did a level 2 inspection on the flu, fireplace, and everything associated with it. To my shock and horror they showed me why my fireplace was no longer safe to use. Right away John was explaining why it was unsafe and what all my options were in ensuring I would be able to use that fireplace again.
    We chose to have Closer to the Hearth install a Priorfire system which is worth the lookup. It turned out beautifully and has been helping to heat our home ever since.
    I have and will continue to recommend their services to all who are in need of it.

    It was great to be the person you could rely upon to make your home a safer place to live. So many times I have had the onus of relaying to a client how much risk they were living with. It is never a happy event but, having the solutions and and the means to resolve the issues is very rewarding. I am so very pleased that the Priorfire is performing beyond your expectation. We can't wait to visit for your first sweeping. It will be telling about its efficiency when we find little creosote.

    John and AJ have been caring for my fireplaces, wood stoves and inserts for over 15 years. A new home I bought in 2006 had a fireplace that was found by John and AJ to be defective. We were one fire away from the house burning down. John and AJ diagnosed the issue and did a complete restoration of the flu and put in a wood insert. I would highly recommend Closer to the Hearth for all of your fireplace needs.
