Date: 07/13/2023 Amount Paid: 79.95 Whitesmoke committed to provide software and activations code(s) as long as subscription fees were paid Nature of complaint: I have documentation showing I have paid the fees on time yearly through my PayPal account. In April of 2023 my computer quit working and I had to get a new computer. I do not have the software or activation code(s) to reinstall it even though I am a subscriber. Has Whitesmoke tried to resolve the issue: No, I've emailed them twice and after the first email I called their support line phone number: (833) 515-4147. This number is answered by a call center in another country. While attempting to get a URL to download the software and obtain activation codes the employee of the call center had the usual questions, but the line of questioning took an unexpected turn. He wanted my date of birth at that was declined. The reason given is they need to make sure I'm over 18, but that wasn't an issue when I bought the subscription from Whitesmoke. I told him my age and we moved on. The next question was for a credit card number and if I was an authorized signer to the account. I explained several times my subscription was paid through PayPal, but that didn't matter, they wanted a credit card number. I was forced to end the call. Whitesmoke is acting in a suspicious manner and I'm not providing them with information to potentially fraudulently use my personal information. They cannot justify that need. It appears Whitesmoke is no longer in business but continues to charge customers for subscriptions. PayPal Transaction Number: **************54A
