Bartlett Towing received a vehicle in December of 2023 which I used to own. I sold that vehicle back in April of 2023. Despite having shown proof of the Bill of Sale and clean title, Bartlett Towing refuses to remove the lien off unless I pay their storage fees. This is unethical and illegal.

Dear Representative of Better Business Bureau,
Thank you for providing us the opportunity to respond to this individuals concern and for
reviewing our side of the story.
In December 2023 we received a call from the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) to tow a vehicle.
We arrived and towed the car back to our impound lot where the car sat, waiting to be claimed.
There is a legal process we must follow when a car sits for some time. This includes sending
multiple notifications by certified mail to whoever is listed on the title. This process also includes
the ability to put an Operator Lien against the owner if the vehicle is unclaimed. According to the
State, the car is still titled to ***** ******, and the notices were mailed to her residence and
appropriate financial institutions, as is required. She did not respond. Later, we applied for a
Certificate of Destruction to dispose of the vehicle. Once approved, we were able to place the
    Operator Lien on the owner.
When ***** recently learned of the lien, she finally called our office. This is approximately 7-8
months after the letters were sent. If required, we can reprint and provide the exact dates of
those letters. We explained that the car was still titled under her name, even though she stated
she sold it to a car dealership in April of 2023. It appears that neither the dealership or the
new owner file the appropriate paperwork to transfer the vehicle from her name to theirs.
We can only go by what the State has on file, so all notifications went to her.
We empathize with her situation, but we followed all appropriate steps, including notifying her,
and filing documentation with the State. Since she did not contact us in a timely manner, she is
responsible for paying any fees to remove the lien.

    Respectfully, ****** Bartlett
