I applied to take online classes at Everglades University after receiving solicitation via phone calls and email in 2021. They were eager to have me finish the onboarding process as a military dependent using my husband's ** ****.Once the ** Bill had been maxed out, they began telling me that I would be dropped from classes without reason as to why and telling me that I would need to pay out-of-pocket expenses that made no sense. After requesting to speak with someone regarding the matter, I began receiving phone calls outside the hours I had previously requested (multiple times), since I have 3 kids and am self-employed. My business requires me to travel sometimes, and I wanted to be sure I could resolve the matter ASAP. Next, the business increased the amount that I would need to pay by $500 and continued asking about ways to finance the payment, including personal loans from a list of lenders they compiled. When I started doing some research, I found that ** (previously Keiser University) had litigation against them prior to my experience due to predatory practices and manipulation tactics used by employees, as well as for employee complaints about *************** the 3 years I have attended, I have had at least 5 different advisors. The turnover rate tells me that the working environment must be fairly toxic as well as the way they treat students. I have used the ** Bill that my husband risked life and limb to earn for a degree that I may never see because I cannot spare $900 each month. I wish to at least have the credits I've earned be transferred to another university that is more centered on the success of the students than ripping people off and making money.

    Institutional Response:

********** enrolled and started the Bachelor of Science in Alternative Medicine Science Track Program on May 9th, 2022.  She was a student until withdrawing on December 21st, 2024.  ********** did use VA benefits while attending and exhausted her benefits on June 3rd, 2024.  At that time, ********** was notified by University staff that she would need to obtain alternative financing to fund the remainder of her education with Everglades University.  When notified, Ms. ******* obtained Title IV from the *********************** to continue her education.

Everglades University is a separately accredited University from Keiser University and has never been formerly Keiser University. Additionally, Everglades University has no litigation pending, and the statement about predatory practices and manipulation tactics is defamatory and inappropriate as the University has repeatedly tried to assist and support ********** during her time as a student with the University.

********** has not contacted the University to request official transcripts since withdrawing from the University.  As outlined in the Everglades University Catalog:

Official transcript requests are handled through the Parchment electronic transcript service. Instructions for setting up a Parchment account and requesting transcripts are found on the University's website at ************************************************************************************ may also work directly with their campus registrar's office for assistance in requesting transcripts. Fees will be paid directly to Parchment.

In order to provide an expedited desired settlement for this complaint, Official Transcripts will be mailed to Ms. ******* at the mailing address listed on this complaint today, June 27th, 2025.

If I can be of further assistance, please feel free to contact me.

    Respectfully,

From the very beginning there has been a constant miscommunication of information. Everyone gives different information. They have always tried to fix it but this is the last incident I can deal with. This place has become harmful for my mental health. It is causing my anxiety and stress to be out of control. When I get hung up on twice because its a Saturday and they do not want to deal with the aftermath of their actions. And make comments like its Saturday and no one is here so dont call back like I have been calling nonstop when I only called back after the *** hung up on me who called me. I think its best if the school and I part ways.
