I had my van dropped off to have repairs completed on the transmission, I later got a call stating that I needed to change the radiator as well. When I picked my van up it made it home which was about 3 miles away from the shop and about 30 minutes after that I went to the store and the van started to overheat. I parked the van returned it to the shop. I called the shop explained what had happened and they stated that there was a leak in the oil filter cooling system and that it would cost $910.00 to replace. The issue is there was never an issue with the cooling system they never saw a leak in the cooling system when they were completing the first diagnostic and after they repaired it now it is starting to leak.

I am sorry that your having issues with the vehical but you were informed many times during your visit that the engine needed repairs which you declined. the vehical was brought to us for a free transmission inspection, we completed the free inspection and consolted with the customer about the many issues the vehical had which included engine issues. we printed out a code sheet and explained to the customer that he needed to diagnose the engine issues before doing a transmission which the vehical did need, the customer stated that he knew tthe engine had issues and he would address them at a later time. we sent the customer estimates for diagnostic time to address the engine concerns but he denied the service. The customer accepted the transmission repair so we moved on with the repair, during the repair we found an internal issue with the radiator which was not somthing you would normally see just doing a transmission ionspection, so we notified the customer of the additional repair needed a radiator replacement. the customer accepted that repair as well but he brought in his own part and we installed it for him. once the transmission job was complete we test drove the vehical and it shifted as designed with no issues. We then contacted the customer and stated again that the engine was in need of repair and he said again that he would address at a later time. The next day the vehical was sitting beside our shop in the morning the customer called and said his wife told me that she was driving the car and the tempature gauge kept going up, i asked if it was going into the red zone and she said no but its going up the customer then said in the back ground (tell him there is oil in the coolant) i then explained to the customer what things can cause oil in coolant and that we told him numerous times it has engine concerns and we would check it out. We looked over the engine and did see coolant in the vally of the engine with oil as well I notified the customer of what we seen and he said he would pick up the vehical, nothing else was said. we did not charge him for looking over the engine or giving him copies of all the engine codes.

The van was Not having any issues with the radiator or overheating until Milex Mr. Transmission suggested that my radiator needed to be replaced and they completed the work now there is oil mixing in with the radiator and the van is overheating two issues that were Not present when the van was dropped off. The issue was transmission, you stated that the radiator needed to be replaced all adding to the a bill that was $4,000.00 and wanted to add another $901.84 to fix a problem that was Not present when I dropped it off. This is Fraud and this business should be held accountable. The documents that the business has provided are all the ones after they fixed the transmission and radiator. Look at the original estimate they provided there was no mixing of oil in the radiator. The van was diagnosed the oil in the radiator and over heating was never mentioned. Look at the dates of all documents.

On 7/18/22 (phone call attached) ******* stated van not running would just rev up and needed a transmission, he was having it towed to us. Being it was not running when we got it we do not know how it was running prior to transmission being installed. On 7/19/22 (phone call attached) ******* was told his van had a number of issues, mainly transmission, thermostat and engine. Also attached is the codes we pull on every vehicle before we do any work to show problems to protect us in situations like this one. Attached is our code sheet with the date 7-19-22 also is a screen shot of our shop system showing that ******* looked at codes and technicians notes stating he had engine problems. ******* wanted us to fix thermostat and transmission and wanted to wait on any diagnostics for engine being he was short on money. We fixed thermostat due to thermostate rationality code and transmission. Their was indication of oil in coolant and he was shown that when he came in to see the failed radiator that we told him it needed. ******* picked up on 8-4-22 and dropped off van after hours stating overheating. On 8-5-22 we did a free diagnostic to locate the overheating issue and found needed to start with oil cooler that is leaking oil into coolant.

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
There was never an overheating issue with the van until this business stated that the radiator needed to be replaced, I paid them to replace the radiator and now the van is running hot. If it wasn't running hot when I dropped it off why is it running hot now after the radiator has been replaced which isn't the reason the van was dropped off for repair.

    Business Response /* (4000, 14, 2022/08/24) */
We can not speak for the running condition of the vehical prior to being towed to our shop, we told the customer the radiator needed replaced due to oil in coolant not because of an overheating issue, and we again stressed the engine needed repair but he kept declining diagnostics of engine so we looked over the engine free of charge to try to locate source of oil leak and we found the cooler leaking and notified the customer of what we found. agasin he declined any work. We also allowed the customer to bring us his own part (radiator) to help him save some money. Customer supplied parts are not warrantied.
