Going back 6 mos or so and within a ******** publicly posted video/update, Sheriff ***** **** of ***********, ******* recommended ****** ***** and his Company, Midland Contractors LLC. I was delighted to have a recommendation for driveway work. After Hurricane ******, we hired Midland to lay/install limerock where the driveway had been washed out and paid Midland approximately $2400. ****** did not source limerock. Rather, he chose to install a different material that was not at any point discussed with us; laid the different material down without our permission; and without our consent. ****** said the material would ****** up. It did not/has not and has become finer and finer as we drive on it. Much like a sandbox. Unstable and shifting. Not like a drive. We asked him to fix his work. He said he had a bad day and got bad material and his fix was for us to pay him an additional $1200 for Limerock -which is what we had requested and paid him for at the start. We asked him to fix his work. He then, unprofessionally, proceeded to say we were rude, disrespectful, and treated him like scum -all because we asked him to fix his work and make good on Midlands work.

This customer reached out for a quote on a driveway that had washed out, after hurricane ******, in ********. Later that week, on 10/17/24 the work was performed and finished in 1 day, restoring access to the property. I walked the job with the customer and was told that they were satisfied.

6 weeks later, I get a text that the material was ***** and they wanted me to look at it. Minutes after receiving this text, I loaded my machine and brought it to the property that Sunday morning to address or remedy the situation.

After smoothing out the driveway, the customer still wasnt happy, I then offered to spread new limerock for only the price of material, and absorb the cost of the machine and operator in a good faith effort to make the client satisfied. Instead, I had to respond to hours of texts from the client and her husband in a group chat that were degrading and hostile and I told them that if they couldnt treat me with the same respect I showed them, that I would no longer be able to carry on a conversation with them. I told them that it was unfortunate that this material was not up to their standards, but I had no control over the recycling or milling process of the material.

I told them that I only had control over the labor (grading), a swift response to their concern and treating my customers with respect. Mrs. ******* couldnt acknowledge my good faith efforts and instead, has chosen to send threatening texts and slander my companys name online.
This has caused a great deal of stress and pressure on my small business, and these folks have not been satisfied with any of the solutions I proposed.

Midland chose the (quote: bad) material and installed it without discussing it with us and without our consent. Midland is responsible for Midlands supply chain. Midland is responsible for the material. Midland is responsible for its poor (quote: bad day) work. Please see the attached Oct 2024 and Dec 2024 text chains.

Midland has addressed this concern with the client by offering a machine and operator to spread new material at the clients residence, free of charge. The client has rejected this proposal and has gotten extremely nasty over text message, but will not take our calls to resolve the issue. With that in mind, we have attempted to reach a middle ground with the client and have been professional in doing so, with no success. We have a great reputation in this community and we will continue to serve our clients with respect and honesty and expect the same in return.

At this point we will no longer be in contact with this client.

1/16/2025 - - - As the text messages clearly show, we asked Midland to make good on its work. Midland should have installed the requested material that we paid for (or the Limerock as was discussed). Midland did not. Midland admits the material was bad material and Midland installed it without our consent. It is ****** *****/Midland who has not treated us fairly. We reiterate our request for a refund.

I am rejecting this response for the same reasons as stated on 1/16/2025.

*******, thank you for speaking with me a few moments ago at 3:28pm. You confirmed the BBB does nothing but provide this communication platform and Midland can continue to repeat itself which brings no resolution to the matter. The driveway remains an example of Midlands bad day + its bad material ; its poor decisions; its poor supply chain ; its poor Work ; and its incredulous decision to ask its Customer to fund ******************* cost to fix its own poor Work.  ******, you took money from the 89 yr old property Owner who has limited resources and you/Midland delivered a sub-standard product. Sub-standard work. This is unfair and you/Midland can do better. You took advantage of us.  Were not going to sue you. As you, likely already know, that is not a cost-effective next step. So, ******, you can call this a win for Midland if you like and you can continue tell yourself the lie that you dealt with us fairly, but you know better.  Shame on you. Shame on Midland.

Confirming - - - BBB, please now close 22734562. Thank you.

    Sincerely,
    ****** *******
