I am a resident of Icon apartments, *******************************************. On the 5th of November 2024 another resident named Aymeric who is an acquaintance of mine reached out to me regarding accessing my apartment to pick up a mutual friends car keys (with his permission) from my apartment which was handed to me by the mutual friend while he was gone for vacation. On the 5th while Aymeric reached out, I was not in the state. I responded to Aymeric with the message saying, I am out of town and will be back in 2 days. Aymeric asked if he could get into my apartment with the help of the leasing office by having me on the phone. I said okay to that, but I mentioned I wont be available to talk to them. Aymeric pulled out a stunt, had someone impersonate me over the phone and got the leasing office open my apartment doors for him. My concern here is that how could the leasing office let a stranger into my house without verifying with me directly. When I addressed this issue, with the manager, ******* ******* at the leasing office. He ignorantly mentioned that nothing has been stolen, no property damage has been done, so whats the problem? This place has become unsafe for me. I am seriously concerned about the theft of my identity. I had all my documents lying here and there. I escalated this issue to the corporate office and spoke to someone named ****** ***** designated as the corporate business manager. ****** mentioned that it was an isolated situation and that my messages to Aymeric was considered consent from me to the leasing office. This is was a very shocking and unreasonable answer. They have done in justice to me and act like nothing has happened. I requested a penalty free move out given my situation and they have not agreed to it. I have been going through a lot of trauma and have not been able to sleep peacefully. Kindly help me with this. Sincerely Dastrin ****** ********

I am rejecting this response because:

First of all this isnt a repair issue. ICON one LEASING office TRESPASSED INTO MY APARTMENT WITHOUT MY CONSENT. I do not understand how this will fall under repair issues. Please correct that. I hope ICON has not bribed you to write this under a fake issue. This is a violation of lease and rights. This is a breach of contract and Florida statute.

I never asked for a 1600 claim. ICON is clearly lying. Ask them to submit proof of me asking them for a 1600 claim. What an unethical lie. Whosoever wrote this should be ashamed for being untruthful/deceitful and lying  like this.

I was never given options. This is the second lie. I was told that Im free to terminate my lease and Ill have to bear all the charges as per the lease agreement, this isnt an option. I have all the rights to terminate my lease anytime I want to. I dont know how this would be considered an option. So unethical and unprofessional with the answers. Please educate them (ICON). I have attached s.s of emails from ****** and *******. See how ******* threatens me by telling hes gonna have the Daytona police involved. He also mentioned that the **** of student affairs will be informed, i do not understand which **** from which college ( Im not a student). Simple question here, why havent police have been called? He clearly tired to intermediate me. On the other hand, I went to the police and I tried to file a report.

I am also attaching proof of expired Certificate of operation for the elevator operated at ICON one.

A *** doll was found lying outside the elevator in a disgusting  conditions. I have attached the images, see at your discretion. The doors dont lock, so anybody can enter the apartment at anytime. This place is a joke, all jokers here. Shame on all of them to be lying like this.

let me know if you need more proofs, I can forward emails and I also have recordings of conversations with *******. In the recording you can see ******* apologising on behalf of icon and he himself apologising. If he isnt guilty why did he apologise? Shame on this entire team. So cheap and very unprofessional to say that I was give the options and that I asked for 1600 USD. BBB please Ask them for proofs. The entire leasing office is guilty and they are all culprits. *** hasnt responded properly either.

BBB PLEASE CHANGE THE SUBJECT FROM REPAIR ISSUE. THIS IS NOT A REPAIR ISSUE, I AM REITERATING IT. THIS IS UNAUTHORISED ACCESS INTO MY APARTMENT BY THE LEASING OFFICE AND ANOTHER RESIDENT.

IF YOU CANT HELP THATS OKAY, BUT PLEASE DONT WRITE IT UNDER A SUBJECT THAT DOSENT SOUND RIGHT PLEASE.
Unable to add the proofs here. **** says file too large/not supported, files are 0.5 MP. please send me an email and I will attach the proofs there.

    Sincerely,

    Dastrin Haridoss

On 8/14/2023 I applied for an apartment at Icon One, including an outrageous $350 background check/document handling fee. Their rental requirements are ambiguous at best and while I had some negatives on my credit, they're 5 years old, I have excellent tenant references from my current rental, a good job with a local employer for several years, a fair to average credit score, yet within 15 minutes of submitting the application they sent me a "Notice of adverse action." No phone calls, no response to my emails, just silence. I'd NEVER have spent $350 if for a second I thought there would be a problem with my application. It's an insane amount of money to even ask for but they get you excited to move in and before you know it, you're handing them $350. These aren't expensive apartments we're talking about. These are on the lower priced end in the area so they're taking advantage of people who are already on tighter budgets. It's predatory and I'm also asking the state AG look into their practices.
What I want is my money back, less the actual cost of a credit pull, and for them to immediately reduce that application cost to the state average of $75 for all future applicants. They won't. But it's what I want.

Hours after the complaint was filed I received an email from the manager stating that she was just notified I wanted to speak with her.
When I responded I didn't get the manager, I got a sales person who said she'd been brought in from another property and would personally take care of my concerns
She then claimed I'd never uploaded my VA awards letter, which I had and received email confirmation of receipt.
She said she needed it urgently and couldn't wait for me to get home from work, so I found a way to do it on my phone and got it to her, along with new copies of my pay stubs (also previously provided)
She then told me they'd resolve it by end of day
She emailed me at 6pm and told me she was still working it and would call me in the morning, before noon
That was 8 days ago and I've not had any contact from them since
