Power Electrics response is both misleading and dishonest. At no point did we ask them to redesign or reconfigure our solar system. We paid for the system to be reinstalled exactly as it was, with the only change being an upgrade to a rail-mounted system, which they agreed to. Their own contract confirms this. No redesign was requested, necessary, or discussed.

Their claim that the original system was poorly designed is irrelevant and an excuse. The system worked perfectly for years until Power Electric removed and reinstalled it. After their work, a third of the panels were non-functional for nearly a yeara failure that occurred directly after their reinstall, not because of the original design.

Furthermore, Power Electric installed parts not original to this system, replacing Enphase connectors with MC4swhich was confirmed by a licensed third-party solar company. Their inspector clearly stated this was the poorest reinstall job he had ever seen and advised a full removal and reinstall due to safety and liability concerns. His detailed report contradicts Power Electrics claim that their installation was acceptable.

Regarding the inspection passing: I contacted the citys third-party permit inspection company, and they confirmed they perform a visual check, but responsibility for proper installation falls entirely on the contractor. A permit sign-off does not equate to quality or code-compliant workmanship.

As for the labor charges: we were quoted two technicians at $160/hr. We received a $0 invoice stating that if repairs were needed due to their installation, we would be responsible only for that labor. Instead, they sent four technicians, charged for travel time without notice, and are now trying to justify a $1,200 bill for correcting issues caused by their own installation.

Lastly, they say theyre "willing" to do the work. Thats not truethey made repair contingent on us paying their inflated bill in full, which is why we offered a $600 compromise. If they were willing to make it right, they would have done so by now.
This company continues to deflect blame, rewrite history, and refuse accountability. Their poor workmanship caused damage to our system and our brand-new roof. We stand by our original complaint and request that Power Electric take full responsibility for their actions.

hout prior notice. We contacted Enphase, who said melted connectors are rare and likely due to wiring issues. A third-party solar company inspected the system and found major faults, including loose wiring, missing clamps, and incompatible parts. Their report called it the poorest reinstall job Ive ever seen. They recommended full removal and reinstallation ($16,000) and would not service the system due to liability. We offered to pay $600 of the $1,200 to settle. Power Electric refused. They will not repair the system unless we pay the full, inflated billdespite the issues being caused by their own negligence. This company cuts corners, overcharges, and refuses accountability. We urge others to avoid Power Electric USA. Their work damaged our system and roof, and theyve offered no resolution..

    Business Response

This is a complex situation. Our contract included only removing and replacing their existing solar system EXACTLY as it was originally installed in the exact same configuration using the original equipment (with the exception of upgrading the rail system). Our contract with them clearly states that we are NOT responsible for redesigning or reconfiguring their existing solar system. Unfortunately, the configuration of their existing solar system was poorly designed. Nevertheless, it did pass county inspection after we reinstalled it. Now, even though the system is currently functioning properly, they're asking us to re-do some of our work for free including redesigning a portion of their existing system (which is specifically what our contract excludes). All of that aside, we are not sure why they believe we have refused to do as they've asked. Regardless of our contractual exclusions, we have been in contact with them through our lawyer and are willing to do the work requested. As far as the troubleshooting goes, we are willing to settle for $600 and we do not "pad" our hours. Every trade charges for travel time. It's not a secret.

When we first arrived on the job site to give an estimate for the removal and reinstallation, their system was not working. It was completely off-line and not functioning at all. At that time, we did some troubleshooting and got the system back up and running. Clearly, the system was not working perfectly for years. We never billed them for the time we spent doing that.
Regardless, we have already agreed to reducing the $1200 bill to $600 and to make the amendments they have requested. Its really not clear what else they are asking for at this point.

    Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me. We would like to Enphase connectors put back in place as we paid for, and the rail mounted on a single rail to be reinforced in the attic.

    Sincerely,
