  I contacted Above Air Inc. because another company recommended it to me. I wanted to get their opinion on an issue that I am having with my air conditioner. Prior to contacting Above Air Inc. I had two other companies that had checked my unit and both companies told me the same thing, the condenser coil has a leak. I called Above Air Inc. and told the lady on the phone that two other companies have already told me that the condenser coil has a leak, and I wanted their view on it and possibly work with them on repairing my unit since they were recommended.She told me it would $90 if they can fix the issue. She added, the $90 will be applied to the cost of the repair.I agreed and made the appointment. Today, I received a call from another woman from Above Air Inc. She tells me that the technician is at my place and needs to pump in freon to confirm that the leak is coming from the condenser coil, she continues to tell me that it will cost me $400 to do that. She asked me if wanted to go ahead and do it.I was shocked. The two previous companies did not charge me a cent. Not even for the call. Do not get me wrong, I understand if I must pay for the service call but to put in freon into a unit that has a leak does not make any sense and worst of all to want to charge $400 is insane.I declined and they charged me $90 for the service call. I lost $90 but I learned that this company is not a company I would recommend to my family or friends.

  Dear Mr. ***************** am sorry that you were not satisfied with your experience with Above Air, Inc. 
  You called for a second opinion to confirm that there was a leak in your condenser coil. We came out and determined that the system had no refrigerant.

  As is our policy, before doing any additional service we called you and gave you a quote of $400 to add refrigerant and perform electronic leak detection. This is within the price range in this area.

  Electronic leak detection is the most relible method to determine what part is leaking so a proper repair can be recommended. As the detector indicates where refrigerant is leaking out, it only works if there is refrigerant in the system.  That is why refrigerant needed to be added. This is industry standard.

  You would have paid the $400 instead of the $90 service call. You declined the service as is your choice. Again, I am sorry that you were not satisfied with our service.  Please feel free to reach out to me directly to discuss the $90 service charge.
