Beware of Armored Impact Windows and Doors Hiring Armored Impact Windows and Doors has been my biggest mistake as a homeowner. In April 2022, I contracted them for impact windows and doors, including a floor-to-ceiling wall of sliding glass doors. What followed was a nightmare of delays, poor communication, mismeasured installations, unskilled workers, and extensive home damage. Despite thorough vetting, they proved deceitful and incompetent. The Operations Manager, ****, ignored my calls and emails, dismissing my concerns as "disrespecting their expertise."Armored Impact Windows and Doors made empty promises, assuring completion by early-July 2022. However, installation didnt begin until late August 2022. Unskilled workers left sloppy caulking, used 4x4s to fill mismeasured spaces, and left unsupported ledges. A forensic inspection revealed code violations, structural issues, and water damage leading to mold growth. Large gaps allowed critters to enter freely. Under Florida law, a 558 notice must be filed, but they ignored it, along with requests for insurance information and mediation, forcing me to file a lawsuit in March 2023. Their legal tactics have delayed progress and drained resources. Opposing counsel even stated, "We are going to financially destroy your client."As of August 2024, my home remains incomplete. They recently requested a hearing to add the third-party subcontractor, contradicting their website claim of no subcontracting. Legal fees have exceeded $50k with no end in sight. During discovery, it was found that **** fabricated a narrative to the Permit Offices and falsely implicated my father in unpermitted work. My job was subcontracted to a non-GC-licensed company, despite assurances that in-house employees with years of experience would handle the project. This ordeal has cost me money, peace of mind, and trust in the construction industry. Avoid this company at all costs. They are awful.
