Im filing this complaint against Badia Spices due to false labeling on their saffron product (Lot#: FR139/23A), which claims the product is derived from the lilac flower. This is scientifically incorrect and misleading. I used the product for my childs ADHD treatment under medical recommendation. The price ($2.99) and inaccurate label raise concerns about authenticity and potential consumer fraud. A PDF with proof and my email to Badia is available.

      Good afternoon.

Mr. **** was replied to on 5/8th of 2025 - by our customer service representative (see attached).  He did not request money nor supply a receipt of purchase, lot number etc and his complaint was researched and fully responded to.

I am rejecting this response because:

They didn't do anything but describe the color lilac purple. They have not sent any of the formal requests regarding it's authenticity and sources. They have not clarified anything. I have waited a fairly significant about of time to verify my urgency in using this for medicinal purposes.

      1. Independent third-party lab results (certificate of analysis) for the lot or batch in question.

      I'm pop
      2. Proof of sourcing and chain of custody showing origin and handling through importation.

      3. Confirmation of compliance with U.S. federal food labeling laws, including any relevant *** or **** certifications or inspections performed on this product.

      Good morning.

The customer is requesting proprietary information (documents which contain - supplier information  - costing information and other),  We have forwarded the request to legal, and once we receive a response we will advise.

If the customer is holding the product and cannot wait, they are more than welcome to return the product to the store or us for reimbursement (with a proper receipt) and/ or location address of the store where purchased so that we can verify the retail price paid.

I am still waiting to receive proof of authenticaticy from the business. They say they have to go through legal. So I don't know if I should deny or accept the response considering I don't accept it until they show me proof which they have been non transparent and long response times on their end .

      Customer Answer

I do not believe that the company is truthful about the validity of their saffron product

It's the company who has not resolved the issue by providing proof of validation. I've been waiting and checking my email everyday. I do not want the BBB to close this complaint. Due to the fact that I have yet to hear back with proof needed. This is a serious law they are breaking if they have not been selling 100% real saffron and marketing the product as such. Please keep complaint open.

We purchased 4 ounce packages of Immitation bacon bits by Badia. This company has as a second ingredient a substance that the *** banned in 2018!!Partially hydrogenated oil. This ingredient has caused and contributed to heart disease, heart attacks, etc. We have a lot of health problems and have known for years how unhealthy partially hydrogenated oils are.We were very happy the *** finally banned this. All other companies who used to use this in their foods, stopped using it due to the ban, even all of our local restaurants.I called Badia today. To inform them of this ban.Not only was the representative very unpleasant and disrespectful, she said they are never going to stop using this ingredient and that it does not cause heart problems in EVERYONE.I thought I was hearing things. The company has no concern of their customers health nor do they care about our opinions. It has been very stressful and upsetting.A refund and compensation for this disgusting response would be appreciated. It is very tiring and painful for me to use the computer,so,I am finished.Thank you.Hope you can help.*****************
