I cant begin to express how absolutely infuriating it has been to work with ***. This guy swore up and down that hed get my deck permit fast and was always quick to respondright up until he got his money. Once the contract was signed and he got paid, he vanished. Its been six long months, and hes been completely dodging my calls, texts, and emails. Do yourself a favor and avoid this company and this man at all costs. Hes hiding behind multiple businesses, and for your own protection, here they are:Sofos Construction LLC ********************* Genesis ***********************************************Business Response
Date: 09/26/2024
Over the years I have not responded to online reviews or comments . But I have also found that if you do not respond society sees it as a sign of guilt. As much as I think this is not fair in anyway that people can hide behind there screen and what ever is posted is fact .
So in regards to The latest complaint filed by Mr ***** *****.I am going to do my best to answer the allegations.
Weather I feel Mr ****** accusations are factual or not is not the issue. But what I will say is the ********************************************** has many avenues for a customer to file a legit complaint along with guidelines on how this will be done. These procedures are for both the customer and the contractor. So if the State of Florida felt the need to proceed on this matter they would.
What Mr ***** did not reveal in his comments.
Yeswe did have delays , Most of the delays in the time frme was due to Mr ***** building a two story building on his property without a permit ( Sofos Construction not involved). There was a stop work order file on this structure, due to this stop work order it delayed Sofos Construction in retrieving the permit for the deck we were hired to replace, Also the engineer that Mr ***** had originally hired did not produce the drawing correctly and Sofos construction had to re prodce the drawing to meet the building departments requirements .
Mr. ***** hired us to help resolve the Stop work order on the existing structure. After we were approved for a demo permit to remove structure Sofos construction was contracted to demo the structure . After things went south with Mr. ***** hired unlicensed group of guys to demo the structure without Sofos Construction approval. Sofos construction contacted the building department and notified them and had them issue a stop work order until Sofos Construction was remove from the permit.
Because of the turmoil creted by Mr ***** continuing disregard of doing this correctly with the regards to the building requirements . We had additional delays on the deck project we were hired for because of Mr ****** reputation with the building department for doing work without permits.
At one point I was almost willing to convert Mr. ****** bathroom without a permit. Thank God we did not. I am sure he has hired another unlicensed contractor do it.
As far as the project Sofos Construction was hired for, Yes there were delays on our part. As stated in our contract that :
UNFORSEEN CIRCUMSTANCES
Construction delays cannot always be anticipated when the partiesenter into a construction agreement. Common causes of delays with a construction agreement can be but are not limited to: Differing site conditions; Changes in requirements or design; Weather; Unavailability of labor material or equipment; Acts of God; Defective plans and specifications; Holidayscheduling; Interference by the owner. Furthermore, excusable unanticipated non-negligent delays often occur and are beyond the control of Sofos Construction.
Sofos Construction trys it best to resolve these matter the best that we can.
The last thing that Mr ***** has failed to explain is that his deck project is completed and has passed all inspections. I know ther are many accusations stated in Mr. ****** complaint. I feel I have given to the best of my ability to address the important issuesCustomer Answer

I am rejecting this response because: Subject: Response to Sofos Constructions Claims
Dear Sofos Construction,
I appreciate your response, but I must clarify the situation based on my direct experience with your company.
Over the past several months, I have made numerous attempts to reach out via emails, phone calls, and text messages. Initially, there was some communication during the first month where I was informed that progress was being made. However, after that period, all communication ceased. Despite my repeated efforts to follow up, my attempts were ignored, and to this day, I have not received any further updates from your company.
Even if the delays or complications you mentioned are true, the complete lack of communication is unacceptable. As a paying customer, I expected timely updates and transparency, especially if there were legitimate issues causing delays. At the very least, your company could have responded to my inquiries instead of leaving me in the dark.
I would also like to point out that the ********************************** Regulation, as well as the local police department, have been notified, and an investigation into the matter is currently underway. I have submitted all necessary documentation to these authorities to ensure they have a full understanding of the situation. Based on the severity of the case, there may be consequences such as license suspension or legal proceedings, but I will leave that to the authorities to decide.
It is also worth mentioning that I am not the only party affected by similar issues with your company. Several other individuals have reported similar problems and have filed claims in small claims court. Given these patterns, I believe that Sofos Construction is engaging in practices that are detrimental to customers, and I am committed to pursuing this matter until I receive the compensation I am owed and appropriate action is taken regarding your companys license.
As for your statement regarding your usual practice of not responding to complaints, I find this highly concerning. A company that values its reputation and customers would prioritize addressing issues when they arise. The lack of response and transparency only reinforces the perception that your company is not operating in good faith. My experience leads me to believe that your business practices are, unfortunately, predatory.
That being said, I am still open to resolving this matter amicably. I encourage you to reach out and work with me to find a solution before further action is necessary. This is an opportunity to make things right and restore some level of trust.
I look forward to hearing from you promptly.
Sincerely,
****** UhimetsInitial Complaint

This contractor is awful! They were hired to demo a deck and rebuild a new deck. The deck took over 9 months and they still didn't finish the job, and we had to hire another contractor to complete the job. They destroyed a granite countertop of the bar and bar that was existing, which we had to demo because of their negligence. They never compensated us for the damages and ultimately, we had to buy new granite and get another contractor to build a new outside bar. The owner (*** *****) was so broke he couldn't buy materials and the job constantly was delayed, and we actually had to pay other sub-contractors to keep finishing their portion of the deck because this contractor couldn't pay them. . We have emails with his admission that he was too broke to pay the sub-contractors and also about the materials. This contractor is so awful, and I have seen on this website and also ****** how many bad reviews and complaints they have had they should not be able to keep ripping people off. we feel we should be paid back for the damaged granite and the payments to an unlicensed electrician because the contractor was too broke to pay the electrician. I tried to upload all the emails, but the file is too big so if you want me to email all the correspondence, I will gladly send to whoever needs it.
