I checked out the school in November to see if it would be a good fit for continuing education. The school rushed me into classes, stating that the classes started in 3 days. Since I had no funds for school, I reviewed potential loan options. Upon reviewing the possible loan options and costs associated, I decided I did not want to pursue any education and did not want any charges from the school. The schools practices seemed like it would be a poor fit. While in their office, they clicked through various financial documents themselves without giving me opportunity to review or a copy to review on my own. I communicated with them to let them know my plan to not take classes with the school. I have not paid any money and did not agree to any final charges or loans. The school wants to collect over $3000. from me. I contacted school to resolve and explain to them that I did not want to be charged or to take classes and that I felt pressured or forced quickly and pressured to try to force me to take loans I did not want. I believe the school pressured me into courses to try to charge me money quickly and now wants to collect. The school reached out to try to get me to enroll again and also to try to get money. I would simply like the school to correct the balance to $0 owed and $0 refund and to not be contacted again by them.

      Complaint: 23110804

I am rejecting this response because:

The school **** called me yesterday to discuss my concerns. I feel he understood my concerns on the phone that I was misled in the full costs and the program and that I did not understand the full cost needed at their school which is ****** approximately ever 4 weeks, and that I had been reviewing the cost the first 3 or so weeks after I originally met them in November. I did not originally meet with them for the program they are charging me for, and I only popped into it because I was led to believe that I would lose a spot and have to wait even longer if I did not join. Upon understanding the possible costs and reviewing all details given to me, I immediately realized this was not what I expected or was led to believe initially and then did not want to proceed in any way. I still do not know what full cost would be here, but I can only imagine ****** every 4 weeks is astronomical. And I did not even want this class, I wanted Radiology (which was/is full?) and this was something different and truly not needed.

I believe based on the conversation that they are looking to remove the charges they assessed given the circumstances. If they can confirm that they are willing to remove the added charges of $3000 that they assessed to me and wanted to bill, then I think the solution will be good, and we can all move forward with nothing further needed in resolution. Thank you.

      Sincerely,

      Alyssa

Again, I have attached the ***** consent form for ******** ****** to complete in order for our office to provide specific information regarding this matter.

      Complaint: 23110804

I am rejecting this response because:

I am not understanding Keiser's position or difficulty on my request to not be charged by their school. I understood yesterday that they were looking into everything and at least understood me, but maybe not.

I will explain again. The school rushed me into joining while I was in their office. I expressed financial concerns then, and they brought a second ****** in to make me feel as though if I did not join that I would lose the opportunity for potentially a year for a completely different program (Radiology). I had a newborn infant with me due to ongoing childcare needs that I have, and I felt very stressed and rushed in the process but was reassured that I could review my options and loans. Since I had not yet paid any money to them, I believed I was fine and still determining the costs. I only joined the school to review my options and the costs, and upon realizing the potential ongoing costs of 12k per every 4 weeks, I realized this is absolute insanity, and not what I signed up for or approached them for. No one ever explained it was potentially 12k every 4 weeks or even how many semesters are needed at that rate to obtain radiology degree. If it was explained, I never would agree to that because I clearly cannot afford that, that is a huge disservice to me as a single mother raising a family, looking to further my income and education, not get destroyed with 12k per month. I discovered the misunderstanding on the potential long-term costs for the school, as I was reviewing a potential loan option, which I did not get a loan either based on all this information. The reason I decided to disengage Keiser is entirely based on discovering the potential costs, and also feeling like their program is not what I signed up for or expected. If needed, I will attach more documentation of the school this month mis-stating that I signed a loan doc and a TIL doc and accepted a loan, and my email from last year stating I did not accept a loan- email provided from the loan originator.

I feel like this is a huge money grab on behalf of Keiser, a school said to be students first- this is a far cry from student first. If Keiser cared about me or students in any way, someone would have explained to me the full number of courses needed, the amount of time to take to get a degree, what degree I was obtaining, anything to assist me in making a sound financial decision. Instead, Keiser asked me to log into their system within mere days of meeting, told me it needed to be multiple times to prevent me flunking from the course or losing the course credit, and now that I understand their system, their don't even hold true to their refund policy. A refund policy would be that I receive a refund of funds I paid to them, which was my understanding. Instead, I have not paid anything because I did not want to pay this type of money, and they want to charge a difference of the balance to me after the fact, which is not a "refund" at all. It is incredibly, incredibly, misleading to make someone believe the policy is a REFUND and not a charge of the difference.

I would like to know what we can do to resolve this and if Keiser can please be reasonable and please remove the charge so that this is not ongoing. It is causing me an incredible amount to stress to also feel like they have told me when discussing it with them that they will possibly send me to collections if it is not paid to them, which is another reason I really want nothing more to do with them and would like to move on amicably. I do not believe Keiser needs this money from me, I do not believe Keiser has provided me value, I feel misled by Keiser, and I also have nothing to give them anyways. I offered to try to pay their withdrawal fee which I think is $100 and that is on top of nearly $250 I think I already paid them originally.

Please let me know if we can remove the charges that I did not have full knowledge of, did not accept a loan for, and pay an additional withdrawal fee if needed, and move on.

      Sincerely,

      ****** ******

Attached is the TIL document I did not accept, dated Dec 10. Attached is an email from Keiser trying to claim I accepted a loan in November. To this date, I have not accepted a loan, loan amount, or any terms thereof.

Highly disappointed with this school. I went here because I thought it would be better and faster than the other schools. I paid off all my classes and decided to not continue at this school summer of 2024. I am now getting billed by keiser for I believe classes they continued to enroll me into when I specifically told them I will not be attending this school anymore. They have made fraudulent charges for $926.29, again I wouldnt have been able to take any of my classes if they werent paid for which was through my own bank and through my Pell ******

For two weeks i have been trying to get to speak to anyone other than a receptionist to request a non-enrollment verification letter. I have called over 200 times and not once been able to speak to anyone from any department or even receive a reply. I have left over 20 voicemails. I have been hung up on 78 times. I have been transferred between almost every department. And absolutely nobody seems to know how to answer a phone. This is extremely unethical and unprofessional. This schools administration treats people like dirt and doesnt seem to care once they have a job. Disgusting excuse for a university. This school needs to have better standards or shut down because this is absolutely disrespectful and unprofessional

I had considered returning to school to complete a 4 year degree. When I attempted to enroll with Keiser I was denied financial aid, which precluded me from continuing with the enrollment. I never attended any classes, I never received any money from this university, and yet they have opened a collections account against my credit. They are claiming I owe thousands of dollars, which again I was never given. I have filed a dispute through the credit reporting agencies, but have thus far been denied.

Keiser finally returned my call. They are claiming in 2019 I received two disbursements. I spoke with my back who searched my records. Keiser claims April 2019, but my ***** says those deposits never happened. I am awaiting the receipt of my statements via postal service to provide document proof. Keiser is either lying or their records are wrong.

The response from the business is an inaccurate depiction of events. I have the call recorded. Copies of my bank records are pending to also show the claims of Keiser University to be completely false.

In 2017, I was living in **************** and decided to get a Bachelors in Criminal Justice. I met with an advisor and they informed the way the school operates is 1 class per month & for me, that sounded great! However, I was told financial aid would not cover my costs but if I signed a paper (unsure of what it was), then I would be taking out a loan for the total cost of the program so I wouldn't have to pay out of pocket. Well, I attended the online section for some time. (I don't remember exactly how long since it's now 2024). One day, I was called by Keiser asking if I am planning on paying my balance. Completely blindsided and clueless, I stated that I signed up for financial aid and loans to cover my costs. The lady (VERY RUDE by the way) basically told me "Ummm no. You aren't eligible for financial aid and it shows you owe the university $10,000". I was SHOCKED. To that, I told her "I do not have that kind of money. That's insane. I am less than a year away from getting my Bachelors. What can I do?". she stated "Um pay the $10,000 by the end of the week or we have no choice but to dismiss you from our school". ****** off, I told her to just dismiss me then. Anyway, in 2019, I moved back to ******** & pretended Keiser didn't happen as I was in a REALLY bad spot in my life (Left addict ex). In 2022, I looked into going to a community college here in ******** and while requesting my official transcripts, Keiser University sent an email saying to contact them to get this transcript. Upon doing that, whoever I talked to told me that I need to pay them $10,000 directly or they will not release my transcript. Now (204) I have the opportunity to get a degree in business but Keiser will not give me my transcript so I am unable to pursue school ever again. HELP?! I want to just forget those Criminal Justice credits and start over but FAFSA requires ALL previous transcripts. I want to just get a degree in Business and forget Keiser even happened but can't. HELP ME.

      Good Afternoon,

Thank you for the opportunity to respond to the concerns of *****************************.  As you may be aware, the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) (20 U.S.C. Section 1232g: 34 CFR Part 99) is a federal law that protects the privacy of student education records.  The law applies to all schools that receive funds under an applicable program of the U.S. ********** of **************** As such, based on federal law, we are unable to provide you with specific information regarding our students (current and former) absent the receipt of a signed FERPA consent form.  I have attached such form that would need to be completed by the student.

We would be happy to discuss this matter with you once we have a signed FERPA consent form.  Or Mr./Mrs./******************** may contact the campus personally to discuss this matter with the school.  We look forward to a positive resolution of this matter.

      Thank you,
