In early October 2022, we contacted ****, **** the Screen Machine to repair the damaged pool enclosure screens at our residence as a result of Hurricane ***. We had previously used this business after Hurricane ******* in ****, and we were satisfied in every aspect of the job. Apparently, ownership had changed hands. The current owner did all business via text message to *********** wife. In October, we sent a $200 "waiting list" deposit & were told that the wait would be approximately 7 to 9 weeks. Around the beginning of 2023, we contacted the owner and were told it would be in "a couple of weeks". Finally, in mid-May 2023, the owner & one of his workers visited our home and determined that our pool was too large for their equipment. He said he would immediately mail our $200 deposit as soon as he returned to his office. That was mid-May, we have still not received refund of our $200. We now see other affect customers making identical complaints. Gene Gene is apparently more a deposit-sucking machine rather than a screen repair business--nice work if you can find it & still remain a free man. The owner needs to be investigated by the ******* Attorney ****ral. That is our next step if we do not see an immediate refund!

We called Gene Gene the Screen Machine right after hurricane *** to repair our pool cage. They came out in the Oct. timeframe, and quoted us $3,950 for the complete repair. They only completed 1/3 of the job and said it was because a lack of supplies, but would be back within 3 weeks to finish the job. We pre-paid the full $3,950 even though they still needed to do 2/3 of the work. After many emails and phone calls, they kept saying the ** glass screens were not in stock, even after I called other contractors who said they clearly had the screens in stock and they were able to order them. This went on for 5 months, until **** sent me an email stating that he would send me $700 for the work not completed as he had "more important things to take care of" however, the remaining work is going to cost me 3 times that amount to finish the job. That said, I still have not received the $700 or any amount at all from this company nor do I expect to. Based on other reviews I have seen online, this is a common theme with these guys. They should not be able to continually get away with preying on others people's misfortune. Hoping you can help with this, thanks.

In October 2022 I sent this company a $200.00 deposit by check to get on "the list" for screen / lanai repairs due to damage from Hurricane **** Vendor acknowledged receipt of check and estimated 6-8 week to do repair. After multiple attempts to secure a date, in December I was informed of a firm date February 10. ******************************* emailed me on February 9 to say his truck broke down and he would reschedule. He does not return calls, texts or emails. I asked for a firm date or my deposit returned. He is now unresponsive. I am hiring another firm. I want my $200.00 deposit returned.

Vendor only communicates via email. On October 11, 2022, communication was established with vendor and **** (my husband) to do screen replacement on pool cage. Damage from Hurricane **** $200 deposit paid via Zelle on 10/12/2022 at 8:11 p.m. to ******************************* dba Gene Gene the Screen Machine, to be put on schedule. Receipt of $200 acknowledged by **** at 8:21 p.m. on 10/12/2022. On 11/7/2022, **** replied to ****'s email that he was two weeks out, to start our job. On 11/30/22, I emailed to find out when he would start. He couldn't find correspondence until I corrected him that it was under ****'s email. He found it and stated start date would be 12/28/22. I emailed 12/22/22 to verify 12/28/22 start date. He replied that it might be the next day due to cold weather, stating start time was 8-9 a.m. After they didn't show up by 12/30/22, I emailed to ask if he was still doing the job. On 12/31/2022, he replied that they had run late, he would be out of the country for a week and would REFUND THE $200 DEPOSIT UPON HIS RETURN. On 1/11/23 and 1/12/23, I asked when and how my deposit would be refunded. I have not received any response from him. He has held our $200 deposit since 10/11/2022 and said on 12/31/2022 that he would refund it the week of 1/9/2023. As of 1/18/2023, we haven't received the $200 nor is he responding to my emails. Please help us get our $200 back, as it is needed for other hurricane repairs. Thank you.

I did finally get an email from the company. I did receive a check from the company last week for my $200 deposit.
