Abraham agreed to install a 1170 square foot driveway at my home for $7000. He refuses to refund the $4095 I paid up front. For 4 weeks he has ignored and defied code requirements, created a frame that is angled to channel water runoff to my home's front door, & formed an uneven surface with areas nearly as high as the frame. On July 15, 2022 we signed a contract stating a price of $6500 & the dimensions. He asked for 50% up front via Cash app in segmented payments, plus an additional amount to cover transaction fees. I paid $2500 on July 16. I paid an additional $750 & $70 on July 17. We then agreed to lengthen the driveway by 5 ft for $500, so I paid an additional $275 on July 18. He reduced the dimensions by 70 sq ft without reducing price, after I paid the $3595. On July 20, before he began working, I provided him with a document I received with my permit displaying code requirements. After he cut the curb, he expressed how I should not have obtained a permit because inspectors are picky. He asked for more money due to his lack of preparation for the city's requirements, so I fronted an additional $500 of the $7000 in the form of a check. He failed the 1st inspection due to not installing any rebar, & he did not return for 2 weeks. While waiting for the results of the 2nd inspection, Abraham tried to convince me to allow him to pour the concrete before obtaining their permission. He failed the 2nd inspection due to improperly forming the right-of-way, & installing only a quarter of the required rebar. Abraham then said the two of us could install the rebar. He rejected my offer to participate in the labor I was paying him to do, if $500 was reduced from the price. On August 17 he finally installed rebar every 6 inches, & he assured me all rebar would be installed the required depth of 6 inches. The epoxy didn't properly cure, revealing the rebar to be installed less than 1 inch deep in an attempt to conceal that he was defying the code's required 6 inch depth.

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)

After failing an inspection on July 28th, Abraham was absent for 8 days of clear weather until August 11th.

From July 29th to August 10th there were 5 clear days, plus 2 days it didn't rain until 3:30PM, plus 1 day cleared by 9:30AM.

On July 21st, the curb was cut and the frame was installed in only 4 hours of work. The frame is unstable and angled to flood my home.

On July 23rd and 25th, the surface was tilled and some of the right-of-way excavated. The surface is greatly uneven and the right-of-way is not excavated to code.

On August 11th and 17th, the rebar was installed.

This rebar was epoxied into the road less than 1 inch in an effort to conceal defiance of the code's required 6 inches deep.

He offered to refund $1,800. The work performed is not worth $2295. I told him the lowest I was willing to accept was $3,000 without taking it to court. The driveway is weeks behind schedule. I need to pay a properly licensed and capable replacement to remove everything and finish the job.

I cannot trust Abraham to properly complete the driveway. He falsely advertised he is licensed, attempted to conceal code defiance, created an uneven surface for the driveway, was absent for 8 days of good weather, and framed a driveway that's angled to flood my home.
