5 starsWords can't express how pleased we are with South Atlantic Energy! We attended a dinner presentation and had the work done 3 days later. The team of 4 showed up on time at 7:00, reviewed the work they would perform and answered my few questions. They then did the work and finished around 2:00. The left the work area spotless and even came in the house to clean up a few spots where debris had fallen under a ceiling vent. The attic is sealed as they promised and they even fixed several vent connections in the attic that had loosened since they were installed 20 years ago. I would highly recommend South Atlantic Energy without hesitation! Thanks for a fantastic job!Review fromLuke B

5 starsHad an excellent experience with this company! Workers showed up early and in uniform. Everything from ****** presentation to the installation was extremely professional, we were shown pictures of all work before and after and could feel a huge difference immediately. Even better 2 months later we are saving about 35% on our kwh.We highly recommend south Atlantic energyReview fromRichard M

1 starThis complaint is valid and i intend to submit my own evaluation as soon as I can arrange with the BBB. The response from the company is impressive and obviously prepared by an attorney experienced in preparing shadowed replies. The ‘rush’ to sign and commit is a typical process used by scammers. I recommend potential customers do a full investigation before spending any money.Review fromFrank A

We were invited to a home energy savings presentation with dinner at a local restaurant here in Volusia County. The presentation was given to aprox 7-8 couples age 65 plus. The company was selling an attic blanket for heat reduction, a product called Bluemaxx for your air conditioner and solar fans to vent your attic .
The salesman came to our home to evaluate our attic insulation, mold issues in our attic and our ductwork. He found no issues with my ductwork, insulation or mold. I was told the company would remediate mold issues if found.
The total amount for the above mentioned services was $17,068 but if I signed a contract that day it would be $12,040. He said the work would be done that week by their company employees and no sub contractors were involved. I asked if they were licensed and he said yes. I asked if building permits were going to be pulled and was told that none were required.
We decided not to get the attic blanket but were considering the Bluemaxx for the AC and the solar fans. After talking to our ac man we were told that if Bluemaxx was injected into our system it would void the warranty and all work must be performed by a licensed AC person.
When I called the local building officials they said that permits must be pulled by licensed contractors in the specific field of work being done. I checked with the Florida dept. of Professional Regulation and no record was found for AC licence, mold remediation, contractors licence or solar energy licence. The only document that was provided to me by the South Atlantic Energy representative was a “ St. Johns County Local Business Tax Receipt”. He said this was the only licence they had!
When I contacted the representative from this company and told him what I found out regarding the building permit , he responded by saying that they were mistaken and that he would contact my local building dept. and get back to me ….I never heard back from him. A very disturbing experience to say the least!South Atlantic Energy, LLC

Thank you for your recent correspondence. We are deeply saddened by this 1-star review. Id like to begin by stating that acheiving and maintaining an A+ Rating and being accredited with the Better Business Bureau with thousands of satisfied customers, and hundreds of annual inquiries with the BBB, is no small feat. We take tremendous pride in our company, every customer, and everything we do very seriously. Our product is not an insulation. Our product is a Multi Layer Aluminum Attic Blanket. It is unlike insulation that is blown into an attic that cannot be removed once installed. Blown in insulation changes the complexion and the structure of the attic itself. Our Multi Layer Aluminum Attic Blanket simply unrolls and lays over the top of existing insulation. Our Multi Layer Aluminum Attic Blanket is not recognized by the new building code for new construction, as it is not classified as an insulation; therefore, we do not fall under the category of an insulation, and do not have the same requirements that an insulation installation company would have. Our product can be used in every home that is currently insulated, but no longer effective. When we roll out our Multi Layer Aluminum Attic Blanket, it pushes back on the heat transfer into the home. We have done this with great success all over the ************* for many years. Our company personally, has rolled out millions of feet of this high-end Multi Layer Aluminum Attic Blanket technology with great efficiency. A version of this technology originated with **** for their space shuttles, and its effectiveness and efficiency is well documented, well-tested and well-proven to reflect the heat in an attic. The fact that we now have access to this technology for residential homes is a huge advancement in home energy efficiency. It is an add-on to an already-insulated home. It is not a standalone insulation. Regarding the treatment for the air conditioner: ****** (The **********************************************************) states in their journal that oil fouling, a well-known industry term, is a real problem with every new air conditioner in this country, and over time, it reduces the amount of efficiency by up to 30%. In short, oil, over time, clogs the coils of every air conditioner, causing oil fouling. Our product helps to relieve and reduce the clogging in these coils, similar to a teflon coating. It is highly effective by creating a colder air flow coming out of the vents in the summer months and shutting down the a/c faster, reducing its strain and wear on the system, while reducing oil fouling. It is also currently being purchased by many a/c companies throughout the country today to provide to their own customers as an add-on to a new a/c system. When an air conditioner or an HVAC employee states that an additive will void the a/c warranty, unfortunately, this is misinformation. In 1975, The ********-**** Warranty Act was initiated through the courts. This act essentially prevents manufacturers of these air conditioners from excluding warranty coverage, when another company installs an additive or refrigerant to enhance the performance of their a/c unit. This same act was also attached to other companies such automobile manufacturers, who attempted to stop companies like ***, and other oil treatment companies with products that can provide longer life in a motor with their highly advanced oil additives, which reduce wear and tear on an engine. Our product operates the same exact way, and falls under the ********-**** act. We are 100% within our rights to provide our customers with an alternative to wearing out their air conditioners prematurely because of oil fouling. We are *** certified to provide this technology in an air conditioner. This allows us to install this highly sought after additive for reducing oil fouling. Our *** certification does not however, provide us with the opportunity to work on, repair, or replace parts in an air conditioner, which are services our company does not offer. Therefore, you will not find us as a licensed ************* Our business is of course licensed in the state of ******* and we are of course fully insured.Regarding the solar attic fans for removing the heat from our extremely hot attics here in *******, which accounts for approximately 20% of our business-Because we are not changing the structure in any way of an attic, we simply install an attic fan with a small hole between the trusses, very much like you would install a small fan for your bathroom or laundry room to extract the heat and humidity. It does not affect or change the structure or rigidity of the home in any way, and It requires no wiring, no electric, and no plumbing. It is a completely self-contained unit which is powered only by the sun. In 1983, this approach to the simple installation of a bathroom fan, exhaust fan or attic fan was determined not to affect the structure of a home in any way, and therefore does not fall under the same requirements that a roofing replacement, repair, removal or installation contractor requires. These solar fans are being installed in the exact same way all across *****************, every day. Our same highly trained, talented and very experienced installers have maintained their positions with us for many years, and are among the very best at what they do. Because our workdays begin at 5:30-6am, they will typically have completed their work by 11am, which allows many of them to even go on to other roofing and HVAC jobs each day, increasing their weekly earning potential for their families. As the owner of this company, I am extremely proud that we have had the opportunity to serve a bare minimum of ****** of our fellow Floridian homeowners an alternative add-on to the traditional insulation methods for the last decade, by making their homes more energy efficient, and providing some of the most advanced Multi Layer Aluminum Attic Blanket technology for residential attics. Although it is simply impossible to make everyone feel happy and satisfied, we will always strive to provide excellence in our field. I do hope this helps to provide some clarity. I feel that this gentleman had no ill intent by filing this review of my company. I believe that possibly, the facts were not made clear to him at the point of sale to provide him the most clarity, which I am disappointed by, and am personally addressing with my sales team as we speak. I simply hope this provides a bit more insight as to who we are, how we operate, and why we have been able to maintain our A+ level of customer satisfaction with a ******+ customer base.
