    3/7/23 purchase used engine w/ warranty paid to have installed, engine no good shop wont honor warranty unless I pay $1200 for them to install a good engine, already paid mechanic to install there damaged engine

    The engine was purchased from ** on March 7th 2023, after having their mechanic shop install the engine we were notified the engine had a noise in it. The vehicle was then towed to our shop, the engine was operational however did have a light tapping coming from the top of the engine. We gave the customer a choice to either receive their money back or we could order a replacment engine (we did not have another engine at the time) and offered them the option for us to install it as well. The customer agreed to have the engine replaced here and agreed to a price for installation of  $1,190.00 for labor and $75 for fluids and filters.  We scheduled the job and were just about to begin the install and they told us they had changed their mind and were coming to retrieve the vehicle. Upon arrival we offered to refund the cost of the engine back on their credit card but they said it would take to long to get the credit back on their card and asked to be refunded by check. We wrote them a check (check #*****) for $3210 a full refund of what they had paid. Normally we have to get our merchandise back to give a refund (as all companies require) but we waived the policy for them and told them after they had the engine they would purchase we would get our engine back then. They went to *************** in Trinity and cashed the check the same day. As you can see on the work order the customer and I both provided it clearly states there is no warranty on labor, ( This is a nationwide industry standard policy in the Used auto parts industry). 

    I have included in the attachment: The original work order, the work order for the refund and the Purchase Order for the engine replacement.

    We honored our warranty and refunded the customer even with not getting our merchandise back as well as giving them options to help them.
