I own an LLC in the state of **********, and my deadline to file my Annual Report was approaching. Luckily, I followed the instructions on the mail I received from the state, filing my updated report for $75. Today, I received an invoice from Annual Report Compliance, which asked for the $75 fee, plus a $95 "Annual Report ************** Fee," with a threat of a $200 late fee. The envelope said that it came from a non-government agency, but also had "Time Sensitive" and "Open Immediately" stamped on it in bold. Had I not recently filed the report myself, I might have thought this was a follow up from the state of NJ. The invoice has my LLC business information filled out, and looks somewhat official. Because I had, however, I knew there weren't any additional fees beyond the $75, and Googled "Annual Compliance Report" "************." ************ is a scam hoping to ******* small business owners out of $100, assuming they will think these messages actually come from **.

I received an official looking letter from Annual Report Compliance indicating that their records indicate the current entity has not filed an Annual Report. I filed a report with the ** Government. This letter is misleading and an attempt to cajole business owners into using their service due to out of compliance annual reporting. They should be banned from mailing this misleading letters and their fine print should be at the top documenting that this IS NOT and Official notice from the state of **.

      Business Response

      Date: 08/21/2024

      Good Afternoon,

I hope whoever is receiving this response is doing well. We would like to apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. The service offer received in no way or form is sent to intimidate or deceive any business owner. We offer you an All-In-One Labor Law poster designed with the panels needed for your business. This service also offers updates that occur throughout the calendar year including fee poster replacement if any laws are added or updated. As for the document not stating that we are not a government agency this is not correct. Upon receiving the mail from my office, the envelope that is received has in bold all caps letters NON-GOVERNMENT AGENCY. Once the envelope is opened on both sided of the document there is a disclaimer that also advises we are not a government agency or affiliated with a government agency. This is to make sure that the receiver understands that they are not using a government service. I am open for any constructive criticism that would make my service more understandable for the receiver. I have provided the documents so the disclaimers may be read and also the image of my envelope. Thank you very much for reaching out to me and I hope this response clarifies the confusion.

      Regards,

      *************************
