Date of the transaction: April 19, 2024 The amount of money paid: $30,319.00 (deposit)What the business committed to provide: Home renovation services totaling $101,064.00 What the nature of the dispute is: CG Consulting and Design, **** (CG) and **** ***** took my deposit in April 2024 but have failed to begin any work on the project six months later. On April 19, 2024, I signed a contract with CG Consulting and Design for home renovations and immediately paid a $30,319.00 deposit. After selecting materials on April 30, I repeatedly requested timeline updates but received delayed or no responses. On May 31, CG falsely claimed permits had been submitted, which I verified was untrue through JAXEPICS building permit site. After no communication for two months, on July 31, I requested another update. CG admitted they hadn't submitted permits due to their own fault. They finally submitted permits on August 5, but these were rejected. Without notifying me, they resubmitted corrected permits on October 7, which were rejected again on October 22 and finally approved October 23.Despite permit approval, no work has commenced as of today. The contract states abandonment occurs if no work is performed for 60 consecutive days. I sent a formal Notice of Default on October 17, 2024, but CG has not begun work or returned my deposit.Furthermore, CG and their legal representation have not replied to our request for arbitration, and we have received no communication after sharing the draft lawsuit with their lawyers.I've since learned through recent news reports (First Coast News, ****************** New Jax) about CG's recent customer issues. These articles linked to other reports of **** ******* ********************************* 2017 in ***** and **** counties while operating a similar company under a different name. I'm seeking a full refund of my $30,319.00 deposit.Initial Complaint

CG Consulting and Design has stopped all work and communications regarding my backyard remodel. They have taken my money and left my home a disaster. Original documents were signed in October of '23. The project was promised to **** *-8 weeks after the permit process. We are now 16 months later. There have been numerous work stopages due to lack of crew, materials and mismanaged funds. They have left my family in a horrible situation with a hazardous jobsite. There is no resolution in site.Business Response

*****, All the things that you said in your complaint about crew delays and materials. We would not agree to mismanagement of funds or materials. We do not control how a team works when they are a subcontractor and when we work with third parties are hands are tied to their schedules including materials. Our goal was to have this done in 6-8 weeks and we have a new team currently down assessing what needs to be completed and are working with ***** and his wife.Customer Answer

Complaint: 22895432
I am rejecting this response because: This is much more than worker shortages. ** has failed to order materials which have led to further burdens on independent sub-contractors AND causing unnecessary delays. Mismanagement of funds brought **** ***** to reach out demanding extra payment and threatening work stoppages if no additional money was received in spite of the clear fact that the contract did not call for an additional payment at that time. Further, we have been blatantly lied to regarding the ordering of specific items like the railing system (a major safety concern which led to a slip and fall) and granite.
We have not been contacted by the office or project manager to resume work and only had communication with one of their granite subcontractors.
There is no clear resolution on the project. CG has not had workers on property since December 13th of last year.

I signed a Notice of Commencement November 2023 for interior and exterior remodel/repair work by this company. Said company informed me that my Notice would be filed by them. My NOC was never filed by the contractor as I work in real estate title and I have checked the Public Records. The company has failed to complete my project and are not forthcoming with information and not returning my phone calls. For each step of the project I have had to reach out to them and track them down. Window replacement and back door replacement was done in February 2024. I was left with a hole in my gutted kitchen in the middle of the summer of June 2024 which stood empty for over a month with no contact and no work which caused my energy bill to increase. My siding has yet to be installed and every time an inquiry is made I keep getting the run around on completion. I was told December 2024, then January 2025 and we are at the end of January, no contact from the company and no show for the work to be completed. We are also already paying for work that is not complete. This company has disregarded all of my requests as I work from home and I have cats that were abused which was explained to the company that I need informative times of work beginning and ending so I could prepare my pets. The lack of communication with this company is appalling and frustrating and I want my job completed so I do not have to work with them ever again. In order to get my flooring done in the house my invoice was cashed out so we are already paying on the Loan under Upgrade since June or July of 2024. So we are paying on a project that is not yet complete. I want delivery of my warranty papers and for the work to be done.Customer Answer

The company called me this morning after I submitted the complaint and stated that they are waiting on the installer to confirm when they can start on my installation. However, I would like the complaint to remain active until I actually see or get confirmation from them because of the numerous dates we have been given with zero results and zero communication.Business Response
Date: 01/29/2025
We understand your frustration regarding the delays and lack of communication, and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this has caused you. We want to assure you that we are committed to completing your project as soon as possible. Our team will be reaching out to you shortly to schedule the installation of your siding. We recognize the importance of clear and timely communication, especially given your specific needs, and we will make every effort to provide you with advance notice regarding work schedules.
Additionally, we will ensure that all outstanding aspects of your project, including the delivery of warranty documentation, are properly addressed. Please know that we take your concerns seriously and are actively working to resolve them. If you have any specific dates or times that work best for scheduling, please feel free to share them, and we will do our best to accommodate.
Thank you for your patience, and we appreciate the opportunity to complete your project.

I was supposed to be informed by the company the day I filed this complaint about when the work on my siding would start. I was told they were waiting on confirmation from the team to begin work. I havent been called. This is what they do. They say they will call and they do not and then we have to call them numerous times for responses that continue the cycle. I DO NOT accept their resolution until my job is complete and it's still NOT complete nor has the work for my siding been started. My Notice of Commencement still has not been filed in the Public Records and I told them they were exposing me to being double charged by any subcontractors they refuse to pay.Business Response

I hired CG consulting to come in and redo my kitchen. I was promised new cabinets, New countertop and sink, new flooring and new tile backboard. Along with that contract, I was told that he could put a patio door in for me which he did. And I was also told he could contract to have my eaves trough replaced, which are not done. the cabinets were missing the glass on the front of the door which I still have not received. I still do not have a countertop. And I do not have a kitchen sink.I have been washing dishes in a bucket. The ends of the cabinets are still wood, They have not brought the end panel and there is no communication with them. When you call them, they will text you and tell you They're either with a client on the phone etc. And will call you back and they never do..Business Response

Transaction Date: December 2023 signed contract with CG Design and Consulting Paid: $7,626.00 at contract signing via a construction loan Project deliverable: build a screen room addition in the Spring of 2024. Loan and completion date: CGC communicated that the project takes only a few days and that I would pay the remaining 50% using the remainder of my loan once the project was complete; the loan's purchase window closed on May 2024, indicating that the job would be completed by the end of May 2024. What the nature of the dispute is: after pursuing a start date and updates on this project for many months, no work was completed as of 8/27/2024, despite being told otherwise. The company was not able to provide project plans, commit to a start date, confirm materials were ordered/received, or apply for permits. Duval County records confirm there are no permits pulled for my address. On 8/27/2024 a certified letter was sent requesting a full refund due to breach of contract. The company took over one month to send a partial refund of $4,056.00. They retained a "cancellation fee" of $3,570.00 without any warning, leaving me with loan payment despite their breach of contract. We are demanding an immediate refund of the remaining balance + interest paid without any further delays.Business Response

Thank you for reaching out and sharing the details of your experience. We understand your frustration and sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused. We’re committed to addressing your concerns and finding a path forward that aligns with your expectations.
Project Timelines and Industry Growth Challenges: At CG Design and Consulting, we have experienced significant growth in the industry, which, while exciting, has unfortunately outpaced our ability to consistently allocate the skilled resources necessary to meet every project timeline. While we strive to keep our commitments, the demand on our services temporarily impacted our ability to deliver timely updates and ensure immediate project start dates. We recognize that this has affected your project, and we apologize for the delays and any confusion caused.
Communication on Permits and Planning: Clear communication around permits and project milestones is crucial, and we regret that we fell short here. Typically, we ensure permits are filed and materials are confirmed prior to starting any project. In your case, it appears that these steps were not executed as promptly as expected. We are actively reviewing our internal processes to prevent these issues from reoccurring and to keep our clients better informed throughout each project stage.
Partial Refund and Cancellation Fee: We understand your concerns around the partial refund and the cancellation fee applied. This fee was intended to cover the initial planning and preparatory work completed for your project and any materials we've purchased, architectural plans. However, given the circumstances, we are reevaluating this fee structure to ensure it is fair and transparent, especially when a project has not progressed as planned. Your feedback is essential in helping us improve, and we are open to discussing this further to reach a resolution.
We truly value your patience and feedback as we work through these issues. With our unmatched growth rate, we are actively focusing on hiring and training additional resources to ensure our service meets the high standards you and all our clients deserve. A representative from our team will be in touch within the next few days to confirm the next steps and resolve any remaining concerns. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to make this right and a team member will be contacting you in the next 24-48 hours to confirm a resolution.

Hello, *****!
We heard back from ******* we always hear from. They have not put it in writing, but they are offering to pay back the cancellation fee by the end of the month after "using the supplies they purchased for another screen installation." They had never confirmed ordering or purchasing supplies for my job at any point, despite being asked for that information numerous times. I suspect they just don't have the money to pay back. The ******* also mentioned trying to send us money for the interest we have paid.
None of this is in writing from CG Consulting, and no one higher than ******* will call me back to confirm this.

I am trying to get warranty work done on a $30,000 (my house) project. All windows replaced, complete vinal siding and soffit work. The last payment on the completed work was made on 14 April 2024. Project contract started 13 July 2023. On 15 May 2024 my wife discovered the rain gutters were not reinstalled properly and I sent a picture to the project supervisor showing the leakage. My text to him - We have a gutter problem. They were not reinstalled properly. This is one place where water floods between the gutter and the house. We need this problem fixed by people that know how roninstall them correctly. Contact us. His reply - I will get it scheduled. 5 June 2024 - My text - When are you coming to get the gutter repaired? It has been approximately 3 weeks since you said it will be scheduled. He did not reply or call. 30 June 2024 - My text - We are wondering if you are going to schedule the gutter repair covered by your warranty? Please reply. 30 June 2024 - His reply - Yes, you were already in the queue for the repair. I will check with our install manager tomorrow morning and have them reach out to you. My reply - Thank you 31 July 2024 - My text - It has been another month (3) and you haven't called or scheduled our repair. It is time for your company to deliver on your warranty. We expect a phone call from you to discuss the avenues available to us. No reply from him. I have called C&G and the Supervisor multiple times only to leave voicemail on his phone and the office number. There is another issue I have not addressed with the supervisor as of yet. There is a sagging 8ft soffit strip in our back room. I just noticed it a week ago. The gutters were newly installed 18 July 2023 ( $572.00) by a rain gutter crew before any C&G work began.Business Response

Response to C&G Consulting and Design reply;
This company has not been actively attempting to contact me for 3&1/2 months. It took my complaint with the BBB for them to contact me. I agreed on 13 Aug to have work done on 16 Aug. I was told on 15 Aug the were sending a gutter specialist. 16 Aug I asked when someone was coming. No reply or phone call back. 19 Aug I asked if anyone in the near future is scheduled to work on my house. I was told via a phone call there would be two workers at my house on 27 & 28 Aug ay 9:00 am. Both days nobody came. 29 Aug I asked if anyone is calling me or scheduled to work on our problems. They have not been actively working my issues. Their actively working issue statement is not true. 4 months of attempting to get the work done is clearly non-response action. They have not addressed the issue I have with the soffit problems they are aware of. They say the work will take place tomorrow 13 Sep. No time given for workers to show up but it is supposedly scheduled. I want this letter put in your (BBB) file. I would like to keep this complaint open until they come and fix our problems. I will comtact you (BBB) when warranty work is accomplished.

Someone came today to assess the issues we are having. No work was done. The individual is supposed to meet with C&G and recommend gutter work to be done. Soffit issues were not part of the assessment. We also discovered 3 siding places (cracks) that will be brought to C&G’s attention. No work has been done to this point. I am not sure when anything will be taken care of at this point.

We are in process of working through this and were out to assess the complaint. It is premature to assume that nothing will be done. The gutter tech was under the impression that we were performing a repair, our office approved replacement of the gutter. As of today we are waiting for confirmation of a couple of days that work for the technician and the homeowner. The soffit and siding repair will be scheduled on the same day as the gutter install for efficiency and respect for everyone's time. Any loose or cracked material will be corrected.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because: We were scheduled on 17 Oct by ******** (text msg) to have soffit and siding repair done on 24&25 Oct. Wednesday afternoon, the 23rd, ******** called us to tell the two workers scheduled to be here had not finished other work and would not be here 24&25 Oct. I told her I was going fishing on Friday now that they were not coming. Hope you catch a lot of fish was her reply. We agreed to reschedule to another time, “Call us when you know next week”. She agreed. ******** called me while I was fishing Friday morning and asked if the workers could come today. I told her I am fishing (no).
These two workers were not scheduled to replace gutters on the 24&25 (as their response stated) they were to work on siding and soffit only.
Our complaint will not be closed until all the work we have discussed with ******** and **** is completed. I have asked on several occasions and texted to have the Contractor come and look and discuss these continuing unresolved issues with us.

****, thanks for inquiring
The following has occurred since the last scheduled blunder on their part 24 & 25 Oct 2024.
31 Oct about 8:40 am - I was substitute teaching and received a call from **** (C&G employee). He said he was scheduled to be at my house today and Friday.
This was scheduled without my knowledge. I had no idea and was not called at all. I told him I would be home on Friday and available all day. He told me he would see me Friday between 9-10 am.
01 Nov about 9:40 am - ******** called me at home and said **** has to get something from the office in Jacksonville and will be there as soon as he can.
About 2:00pm I called ******** to ask when **** was coming. She asked me if he was there. I said no he is not. She said she would call him and find out what is going on.
I asked her to call me right back or have **** call me (she never called back). 30 minutes later I called **** and he told me ******** knew he was not coming today.
This is unacceptable communication, coordination, and just poor business practices on the Companies and *********** part (not the employee ****).
I have asked ******** to have the Only Licensed Contractor with C&G (**** ***) to call me and come see the problems at least 4 times. No visits or phone calls yet.
!- Soffit work in 2 different places
2- Cracked siding replacement
3- New replacement rain gutters on house front (as promised and measured for by *******) - substandard repair that still leaks. Our warranty has been voided by C&G.
4- Install Gable vents that were removed and covered over with vinyl siding.
C & G Consulting and Design continue to display the Better Business Bureau Logo after they have been suspended. It is on their web sight as of 1 Nov 24.
Extremely grateful,

On 22 November the C & G Contractor (**** ***) came to our house with 3 workers. They assessed and began working to fix the issues. The cracked siding was replaced. Half of the soffit repair was completed. **** assured us the work will be completed but he has to order supplies to finish (soffit). He also worked on an exterior Ground Fault interrupt outlet that quit working after the siding repair was completed. It will be repaired according to ****. I addressed the gable vents and new rain gutters with him. His response was, “I will order gable vents and get a gutter company to install new seamless gutters on the front of the house.”
He assured us he will fix the issues we have been after them to accomplish. We do not want arbitration at this time. We do want this complaint to stay open until they satisfy our work requests.
Thank-you,

Thank you for forwarding *** ******** additional concerns. We appreciate the opportunity to provide clarification and updates regarding his project.
We understand the importance of addressing *** ******** outstanding requests and ensuring compliance with Florida building codes. Below is an update on the specific items and steps we are taking:
Soffit Repairs: The soffit materials have been ordered and will be installed promptly upon delivery.
Gable Vents and Ridge Vents: During our discussions with *** ******, we acknowledged his request for new gable vents. However, per Florida Building Code (FBC) requirements for attic ventilation:
Ridge vents and soffit vents are designed to work together to optimize airflow. When ridge vents are installed, gable vents should be closed off, as they can disrupt the airflow between intake (soffit vents) and exhaust (ridge vents).
Ventilation must meet a minimum of 1 square foot per 300 square feet of attic floor space. Cross ventilation is required, and upper ventilators should be within 3 feet of the ridge.
Proper attic ventilation helps maintain a comfortable home, prevents roof damage, reduces energy costs, and avoids mold and moisture buildup.
We recommend closing off the gable vents and focusing on ensuring proper airflow through the ridge and soffit vents to meet FBC requirements and ensure the longevity and efficiency of the home’s ventilation system.
Additional Items:
Gutters: We are coordinating with a local gutter company to schedule the installation of seamless gutters as discussed.
GFCI Outlet: The exterior GFCI outlet will be repaired during our next visit to the property.
We remain committed to completing these items in compliance with Florida regulations and to *** ******** satisfaction. We appreciate his patience and willingness to work through these details.
Please feel free to reach out if further clarification or documentation is needed.Customer Answer

I have a contract with CG Consultants and Design to replace siding to my entire home. On February 20th 2024 the lender paid them $10000.00 upfront cost. I have been calling every week since February getting run around after run around. I even went to their office twice was told they'll be there in 2 weeks. Today is July 26th 2024 and needless to say no one from CG Consultants and Design has contacted me or came out to my home. I have contacted the lender and they are working on getting their money back. This company is a fraud and should be prosecuted.Business Response

We signed an agreement to have a bathroom tub replaced and a roof extension done on our existing screened enclosure on November 10, 2023. The bathroom was to be done between Thanksgiving and Christmas of ****************************************** January of 2024. We provided a deposit of $11,000 dollars on 11/10/2023 which was 1/2 of the total price of $22,000. The bathroom project was continuously delayed but finally completed by a sub-contractor on 2/8/2023 at the agreed cost of $4,500, which leaves a deposit of $6,500 for the roof project. After months of excuses, delays, incorrect permit filings, not showing up when scheduled, we came to a mutual agreement to terminate the contract as the contractor was not able to do the work in a timely manner as presented during the sales process. In accordance with the contract, CG Consulting and Design has 30 days to return my deposit of $6,500. It's now been 45 days and I keep being told it was mailed, then I was told they reissued it, bottom line I still do not have the deposit refund. I believe this constitutes fraud as the work was never intended to be completed and the company still has my deposit. I have documentation of every text message that demonstrates I have been repeatedly lied to regarding this project. I have tried to work through this with the company and have been more than patient. The company appears unwilling to address this issue within the terms of the contract.Customer Answer

After additional discussions with the company, I have been assured the deposit has been sent and will receive it by Friday. So at this time I would like to withdraw my complaint and allow the company to resolve this issue. Thank You

In February 2024 I call** and sch**ul** an appointment for CG Consulting to come out and see if this was something that they could handle. *********** ****** came out on February 13, 2024 took a look at the issue, took pictures and said that the company handles this type of issues all the time. I ask** him if I did go with CG Consulting how long would it take them to resolve the issue. He stat** no more than 4 or 5 days. I agre** to it and sign** the contract. He call** and set me up with financing with momnt. I was sch**ul** to go to the Phillips highway location to choose the tile. I was told that would receive a call to sch**ule the installation of the tile. This was in March. I have yet to receive that call. Because I never receiv** the call to sch**ule the installation I was calling the office regularly. Each time being advis** by ******** that she will reach out to see how much longer it would be before I was sch**ul** but I always end** up calling and speaking with her only for her to tell me the same thing...I will call you once I get an update. On June 12, 2024 I stopp** by the Phillips highway location and spoke with *****. ***** apologiz** and told me briefly that they were short of help. Good evening Ms. ******,
My apologies for any misunderstanding, we are working on acquiring the material for your home, your home was built in the 1950's. When the remeasure person came to your home you indicat** that we could fill the area with a generic white tile; we felt that that you would not be satisfi** with the outcome since your tiles are yellow, green, pink and blue. We have found three of the four color** tile and have them order**, we are working on locating the fourth. In comparison to the volume of clients we serve, it seems that we could always use another tile installer; we run behind sch**ule from time to time; however, most of the time we remain timely and attentive to our sch**uling. Once we have all of the material in our possession we will sch**ule your install to begin within seven to ten working days. We appreciate your business and look forward to completing your bathrooms soon. If you have any other questions or concerns, please call and ask for me, ******** ***** or our Director of Operations, ******* ******, we are available M-F 8am to 8pm. Thank you for reaching out to us, I look forward to speaking with you soon,Customer Answer

I signed an agreement on February 14th 2024 for tile and flooring installation with *********** ******. Because of the estimate quoted for the job I was able to use their finance company *****. I was advised by *********** that CG Consulting handles this type of job all the time and that it will not take them long to complete the job maybe 2 weeks at the most. I was advised that someone would contact me to schedule the installation. ***** did. I only heard from Cg consulting when I called to only receive no response. Which is why I filed a complaint in June 2024 but it was closed since ***** reached out to me immediately after filing the complaint. Since the complaint closed nothing changed. I called CG consulting atleast every other week for a status. Nothing, I called Momnt on September 30th 2024 to see how I could receive a refund for the money I have paid on the loan and was told that I need to contact CG consulting and have them to refund the $8000 dollars that they paid CG consulting. I called CG consulting on September 30th 2024 and requested a refund with ***. *** stated that she would let ***** know and get back to me. I called back on October 1 2024 and requested a refund with ******* and ******** and was told that since most of the materials have been received that maybe I would have to pay. I requested this in writing to see if I need to get legal counsel and have not received anything. I called CG consulting back on October 4th 2024 and asked to speak with *****, ***, ******* and ******** and was told by ****** that *** was in the office but was on a conference call. ****** stated that she would pass the message to ***. I have yet to hear from any. I want my account with CG Consulting closed so that i can get a refund from momnt in order to close out that loan. This company is very unprofessional. This whole ordeal has been a nightmare that will not end. If I had to rate them it would be a big fat ZERO.
