I took my husbands diamond wedding band in December 2023 to be sized and replace a missing diamond stone. Several months passed and I never heard from Magic Jewelers.I called in March regarding it and was told they called but couldnt reach me to confirm repair. A few more months passed and I reached out again on June 12th and was told they would need to call me back because they couldnt find the ring. I called back on June 13th and was told theyll call me back, then I received a call saying the ring was there and ready for pickup. I picked it up the evening of June 13th. That night when I took the ring out the plastic baggy to give to my husband, I looked at the ring very well, turning it around and then immediately noticed the diamond stone was missing again. It wasnt in the plastic and we couldnt find it anywhere on the floor. I must admit I looked at the ring before leaving the store and it was there. Somewhere between taking it out the plastic and turning it around obviously observing it the stone mustve fell out and we couldnt find it.We immediately went back to the jeweler the next day, June 14th. I was told by ******* it wouldnt be a charge. I received a call from ******* on June 21st saying we would have to pay and we refused because if it was replaced and set properly it would not have come out the same day. We went to pick up the ring the same day, the 21st and ******* said she didnt realize we paid to replace the stone she thought we only paid to size it and that happens sometimes with resizing. She asked to keep it and she would speak with **** the boss again. Today, June 26th we are told that the jeweler claim its a different stone which its not true, its the same one. Thats not a coincidence that another stone came out after having a repair done and we just paid $197.50 for a diamond stone replacement and sizing. They are saying we need to pay another $150 and we will not. Thats bad business and not fair to us as the customers.

      Business Response

      Date: 07/23/2024

We inform our customers at drop-off that we are not liable for any mishaps involving their jewelry outside of our store. However, we are happy to provide repair services for merchandise purchased from us or other retailers.
On December 20, 2023, ************************* dropped off a two-toned men's ring (10.1 grams, 10k gold) with 9 diamonds. We were tasked with placing the 10th diamond, missing from the third position on the right side of the stamp. We placed the ring in a yellow envelope, noting that we are not responsible for any items left over 60 days, and called Rosebud upon completion on December 23, as promised. Despite multiple attempts, we could not leave a voicemail at **************, so we kept the ring in our safe.
On June 13, 2024, the customer came in, examined the ring, was more than satisfied with the repair, and paid $197.95 by card for the pick-up. The following day, June 14, the customer returned, requesting another diamond to be placed on the opposite side, the fourth diamond in. We informed her of the additional charge for the missing stone, but she declined the job of $160.50 and not picked up the ring, which remains in our store as of July 23.
