We agreed to have CWA Construction do a project in our back yard that involved getting permits from ***************. We gave a $4500.00 depost over one year ago on December 3, 2023. No progress has been made in over a year and *** continues to give excuses, blaming the County. We spoke to the county and arranged a video conference call with CWA and people who handle permitting with the County. *** failed to attend this meeting. We learned what we needed to do to proceed with the project and still, *** has done nothing to complete this project or even get it started. There is always an excuse and he claims he will move forward with it several times but never does. We now want our deposit back so we can hire someone else to complete this. We feel like his business could be a scam because we know of a business that is dealing with the same problem.

    Business Response

Here is my response to this client complaint. Yes they gave a deposit to start the process for their backyard project. Yes it was over a year ago. Here is the problem: they asked for a boardwalk renovation along their waterway on their property, this project needed a permit in which I applied for, they county (Pinellas) had zero knowledge of the existing boardwalk on site, no previous permits were ever filed, I have countless hours spent , many emails with correspondence with the city. We recently came up with a solution and planned to go in that direction, which was agreed to by all parties. I have a legal state of Florida contract with them which clearly states "delays" in project or project details cannot be controlled at all times by CWA Construction - We do not have control over the city, acts of god (2 major hurricanes), holidays etc. I have explained many times to them that I will be out of office until the 6th of January and we will handle the newly designed plan that they have requested now that the city will not approve the original scope of work. I will also be forwarding this documentation to my attorney for review of slander and the accusations of being a scam or a fraudulent company. Im happy to resolve this matter with a justified refund or a resolution in some way. I will not except a poor review or a hurtful company review of this manner as Ive always been a 5 star reviewed company from day 1. I expect BBB to help with this issue and I will work alongside to resolve this immediately - thank you . ***** Ankwiz

I am rejecting this response because: In the response from the contractor, he mentions that "We" came up with a resolution to move forward.   This project started in December of 2023.  We usually had to ask for updates to try and get things moving.   The project laid stagnant for 8 months before Hurricanes effected the area.  I knew it would be difficult to get any positive info on moving forward because of this once they hit, but I still tried.   In November, 2024, we contacted Pinellas County ourselves.  It took two phone calls to get things moving.  The county arranged a conference/video call so we could all get answers.  Unfortunately, The contractor failed to respond or attend the meeting.  After the meeting, I called and we spoke to the contractor and gave him all the info.   He said he would work on it and move forward.   We heard nothing back.   For the contractor to say that "We came up with a resolution to move forward," is ridiculous. We did the work to move forward.   Too much time always elapsed from when he said he would do something and hearing from him.   Almost ten months before Hurricanes hit, we waited for the project to move forward. A total of13 months of our time wasted.   We agree to sever the relationship and would like to get a refund.   Some funds will be needed by the contractor for his time and other fees that the county may have charged.  However, sending emails doesn't take much.  The County did tell me that if he wasn't getting a response, all he had to do was call.   We got a response on our first call and learned that he failed to send the info in their Portal properly and it was just sitting in "Limbo."   The lady in permitting/Zoning moved that forward for us.  Not soon after, when we following up with the county, they set up the conference call that gave us the answers we needed.  We never intended for our comments with the BBB to be considered as slander.  We truly believed we were being "Strung along' until we would give up.   There are so many problem companies out there that take advantage of Seniors and we felt like we may have been one of them.

We feel we deserve most of our money back.

    Thank you for your time.

    Sincerely,
    ******* and ***** ********
