I took my car To AAMCO at ********************************************************************* 6 weeks ago. I drove it in myself as it was in working condition. I was told it needs a new transmission cable. And I never got my car back as of today. I use my car for work, so if I don't have a vehicle - I don't have a paycheck. After the part was replaced they found out that something has been done to it during the replacement that it could never start again. They asked for another ******** didn't help. Then they found that they have fried my battery (that wasn't old & gave me no issues) so it was replaced under manufacturer warranty. Then according to them they have replaced multiple parts & have invited multiple specialists from higher level but as of today 12/20/23 I do not have my car. I spent ridiculous amount of money on car rentals so I can continue working. When I asked why it was taking so long during first 2 weeks I was told that "i wasn't the only customer". And besides that when I stopped by the shop last time I found out that my car sat for 5 weeks with all 4 windows down in their dock so the car is all trashed inside & will need a full detail *********** cleaning as I have allergies & won't be able to use the car in current condition. I need my car back in working condition, all rental costs reimbursed & full ************** cleaning of the interior (no shampoo as I'm allergic).Business Response

I am sorry that this customer's vehicle is causing her so much trouble. It's always unfortunate when things like this occur. Unfortunately we bear the blame in the customer's viewpoint, but this is unfair to us. I will describe more accurately what actually happened.
The vehicle was driven in as the customer stated however it was not in working condition as she stated. The reason it was brought in was because there was no reverse gear and the vehicle would not start normally. The customer showed me that she had to over-ride the shifter lock mechanism with a screwdriver she was using to get the vehicle started. We identified a broken shift cable with a visual inspection. I recommended she replace that because it was obviously broken and she would need that. I also informed her that there could be more to her issue. She agreed to replace the shifter cable. After replacing it we were unable to start her vehicle, even with the screwdriver method she showed me. I had both of my technicians attempt to diagnose the issue, but were unable to. I asked another technician (who is an electrical engineer by trade) stop by and try to diagnose the issue. He spent 6 hours at my shop one day trying to determine the cause of the no start, but was unable to come up with a positive conclusion.
As of today, the customer has not been billed for the shift cable she authorized or any of our technicians time trying to figure out the cause of the no start. If she would like to get her vehicle towed to another shop to try to get her issue resolved I will credit her the parts and labor she now owes us.
Again, I am sorry for the issues with her vehicle, but we are not to blame.

I am rejecting this response because:My car started and drove fine on the day I brought it obviously besides the part I brought it in for - the transmission cable. I started it multiple times on that day & drove it there myself. The car wasn't in a "fried battery" condition & not in a unable to start condition. Obviously as the part was broken it took clicking an override button for the stick to move but that's not what we have right now. The car can't even drive itself out of the shop to be taken back to the house or another shop the way I drove it in on the day I brought it.
My car was left with all windows down for 5 weeks & no one is bothered that all of my interior is now trashes & it needs a full detail & steaming.
My car was treated as "you are not the only customer" sitting there for 2 months now, only occasionally being looked at. No sense of responsibility of what they have caused.
The problem which it has now was definitely caused by the shop & they are responsible for fixing it or for the cost of another shop fixing it plus my rental reimbursement & cleaning fee. Whatever they did has also caused my battery to be fried that they have already replaced under warranty, which confirms the damage it didn't have when brought in. It's impossible to drive the car in with a fried battery.
Sincerely,

Also, according to AAMCO they have attempted to replace multiple parts to be able to start my car. I was told multiple times that a new part was ordered & they are waiting for it to arrive to be replaced.
I need a full list of parts AAMCO attempted to replace in my car so I know what was done to it in the 2 month it was in their care.

A few weeks ago I spoke to owner/manager who told me that he was hiring a new mechanic who told him that he was pretty sure what the issue with my car was & it will be fixed & ready to be picked up by Friday 1/26/24.
I called him last week & he said that the new mechanic wasn't coming in to work & hopefully he will come in this week.
I called yesterday 2/6/24 and he said that the new mechanic he was talking about never got hired & he has someone not from this shop that was supposed to stop by & fix the vehicle. He said this "person" was there on Thursday 2/1/24 & never came back as of yesterday.
Also in the past the owner told me multiple times that they have ordered parts & will be replacing them. But in a later conversation he told me that in the whole over 3 month that my car was in their care after they broke it they only replaced 1 part as part of troubleshooting for the "no start" & that part was a starter housing. No other parts have been replaced in an attempt to resolve the no start issue.
An imaginary new hire mechanic that never came in & multiple parts that have never been replaced.
Also last week my insurance asked for the vehicle fotos & the fotos that he sent me had the car windows down again. While no one is working on my vehicle they are still having my car continuing getting trashed with windows down while the dock is open Mon-Fri

I am rejecting this response because:Since I have submitted a BBB complaint no work has been done on my car & no progress so far. I have gotten bunch of lies about a new hire employee that guaranteed that will fix my car same week & another tech that has been invited from another shop but all seems to be lies. My car was driven into AAMCO 3 month & a week ago & so far all I was getting were lies. For over quarter of a year since AAMCO broke my car they have done nothing & so far only replaced 1 part as part of no start troubleshooting - a starter housing, nothing else. This is unacceptable.
I need my car back in the same condition I drove it it. I need to be able to drive it out the way I drove it in & bring it to my house.
Sincerely,

I took my car to AAMCO and the owner and mechanic told me what needed to be done in order to fix my car. After getting my ******** E430 car back from them it was not fixed at all. What they had done to my car did absolutely nothing to fix it and the owner and mechanic totally mis-diagnosed it. I paid over $1,060 and I am requesting for them and AAMCO to refund me back this money. I am not responsible for them not knowing what should have been done and me paying alot of money. I had to take it to another place who knew exactly what to do and they fixed it perfectly. they need to return all my money back.I am attaching all the emails and the invoice showing the communication between AAMCO and myself. They are Fraudulently using a Fraud Invoice trying to say that I don't have a warranty. It is Not the invoice they sent me. I even contacted the AAMCO ****************************** and nobody is still responding to me and they keep ignoring me. Please help me get all my money back. Thank you, *************************Business Response

The Invoice supplied by the complainant is the first invoice he received from us when we initially looked at his vehicle. There was no charge for this invoice (Dollar Amount is $0.00). He came back and told us to move forward with the repairs and received an invoice dated Jan,17th (already entered with the previous response) and was clearly stated that there was no WARRANTY IMPLIED.
Unfortunately our position has not changed.

I took my car to have my transmission diagnosed. I was told that the fluids needed to be replaced. After three days of not hearing from them, I had to call them for an update. I was informed that my valve body was worn out and needed to be replaced and that it would cost about $2300. After they replaced the valve body, 2 days later, they told me that the entire transmission needed to be replaced which was going to cost $5500.I picked up my car on 3/1/23 & FROM THAT DAY forward, my STARTER was making a noise that it was NOT making PRIOR to taking my car in for the transmission. I was scheduled for a followup two weeks later to make sure the transmission was ok. I mentioned the issues with the starter. They told me an hour but it took them four. They told me that the starter bearing was bad and that it needed to be replaced.I took it to another Mechanic to get a second opinion and the 2nd mechanic stated that the bearing was fine & my starter was actually cracked - possibly from being dropped during the transmission repair. It cost me another $340 to replace. The 2nd mechanic also said that after they changed the valve body and flushed the transmission that it was highly unlikely they would have needed to replace the entire unit. I am very upset with the work that AAMCO has done because my car was not properly diagnosed from the beginning, and in addition to that, they damaged my starter and then lied about it. I am looking for a full refund on the parts and labor for the unnecessary work done to the transmission and also for the parts and labor for the starter that they damaged.Business Response

The customer received a new transmission which is functioning correctly to the factory specifications. She was given full credit for the initial work that did not correct her issue. To request a full refund is unreasonable. No one is sure why her starter started making noise. We are quite sure we did not drop it. Our technicians are very honest, if they broke it they would have told us. We offered to replace the starter for $160.00 as a good will gesture, but she declined our offer and then paid $340 at another shop. We have nothing else to offer her at this time. We 're sorry she is unhappy, but she is being unreasonable in our opinion.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because that is a complete lie. I brought my car back to the company for a follow up on the day I was told (3/11/23) but the company was closed so I brought it back again on 3/14/23 which is when I was available and NO ONE ever offered to fix my starter for "$160 as a gesture of good will" nor was there ever an offer or any written documentation that I refused so I would like to see where that proof is because they will not have it since again it was never offered. I only ever spoke with ** to which his exact words to me instead were "Well how come you didn't bring it in sooner" & that "The starter has nothing to do with the Transmission so it made no sense".
So to add, when I brought it to another mechanic that Saturday (3/18/23), he informed & showed me that the starter was cracked and explained that the starter & transmission DO IN FACT go together because the starter has be taken out first in order to replace the transmission so within that process, it cracked. Therefore indicating the company most definitely broke the starter. If they felt the need to lie about this then it makes me wonder if they were lying about how much work my transmission actually needed to begin with. They originally quoted me $2,300 & change but then raised the amount to $5,500.
So in turn, I do not believe I am being "unreasonable" in requesting a refund.
Sincerely,
