We purchased gold coins, bullion, and silver coins from the owner, *** *******, through his precious metals company - Golden Art ********** four years ago. Among the items we bought were a set of 5 gold coins which he represented to us were "investment coins." However, recently we took all of our metals we had bought from Mr. ******* and had them all appraised (and we did some research online as well) because we were curious about the current value since gold and silver values have increased over the last 4 years - especially gold. According to the appraiser, the 5-coin set he sold us for $35,000 (back when the spot price of gold was $1942 as opposed to over $2700 currently) was grossly overpriced (his term was we were "ripped off") because when he researched each coin online, he determined the total value of our coins was around $16,000, because they were NOT "investment quality" but merely bullion, of which price is easily calculated by determining the spot price plus the premium, which is usually around 6%. Additionally, most of the other purchases were over-priced as well, far above any reasonable and customary premium. Mr. ******* was supposedly a reliable source, as he broadcasted numerous webinars about gold and silver buying. We even spoke with him personally several times before our purchases. Now, after discovering we had been unfairly charged, we contacted his company, and spoke with his wife ***, who had worked with him and actually did his books for the company. She denied any wrongdoing, and stated she had no money to refund us, and had spoken to her attorney and had "peace" about it. By our accounting, we have been overcharged by about $25,000, and we want to be reimbursed that amount. Finally, we also spoke with a couple of gentlemen who were his former business associates who confirmed we had been ripped off, and that there were others who had been victimized as well - and whose names we might be able to access if need be for a class action suit.
