I live in Jacksonville Florida and my AC went out 6/29/23, we called Weather Engineers because we had a long standing relationship with their company for 10+ years and purchase their service plan yearly. The outside temperature was in the high 90's and we have an elderly family member living with us an needed it fixed right away. We were grateful to get an appointment the same day. The technician Michael arrived approximately 5:00 and we were praying for our AC could be fixed immediately. Upon his review of our system, he came to us with our thermostat in his hand broken in several pieces that he had taken off our wall telling us that was the problem, he then proceeded to advise that it needed to be replaced and that he might have one on the truck and if so it would be $400, we were shocked at the price but desperate to have the air on so we agreed. He returned from the truck and advised that he did have a thermostat and proceeded to install it. A time later he returned to tell us that all of our wiring had was done incorrectly and that we needed to have it rewired, we explained that Weather Engineers had done all of our maintenance for the last few years and we had never been told this and he then used the race card to say he was only telling us this because we were brothers (code word BLACK), as if he was trying to get us to pay to get him to fix it?? In any event we had no choice but to pay for the replacement of the thermostat because it was destroyed, we also paid for 2 lbs of Freon that he said we need. The issue at hand is that we priced the Honeywell thermostat with multiple carriers including Honeywell and the most expensive was $125.00, but he charged us $400, this definitely was price gouging, we called and left a massage for the manager on 6/30/23 and again on 7/5/23 and to date have not received a return call. We are very disappointed in their customer service and discourage anyone else to use them, it's not worth it!
