    Nature Of the dispute: Discrimination within the ************************ regarding Florida Tech. The individuals involved who work within the financial aid department are ****** ******** and ******* all are discriminating against me due to my race. I was once a past Florida Tech student between 2021 and 2022. Upon experiencing the loss of my dad due to stage 4 bladder cancer as well as dealing with migraine headaches and escaping an abusive relationship during the time I was a student. All of the devastating circumstances caused a very high level of stress, and anxiety in my life which caused my G.P.A. to plunder significantly. Upon requesting an appeal to the ************************** back in 2022 while attaching important documents to support my appeal such as my Dad obituary, documents from my psychologist who I was seeing at the time who has his practice by the name of ********************** with all of my important documents in order which I was told by the registered office as well as the financial aid department to submit along with my appeal form. Not only did I submit the entire form along with my documents but I submitted the form as well as the documents *On Time* back in 2022 only for the financial aid department to *Deny* my appeal and keep the remaining of the federal government student aid funds which should have been refunded back to the student but it was not. The main reason for me requesting this investigation is because once my appeal was denied which I do believe was denied based on my *Race* / discrimination towards me after trying to put the pieces of my life back together after losing my dad to cancer just last year on the 4th of July of 2023 I lost my 24-year-old Nephew in ******, Ga to a stray bullet while he was hanging out with friends not to mention I was just faced with a recent Mass layoff a few months ago this year 2024.

    I am currently enrolled at the Florida Institute of Technology. In numerous courses I've taken online for my undergraduate degree program, I've been the victim of deception, scams, and financial fraud by their staff, faculty, and affiliates. I reported to the Ombudsman group of the Department of Education the instances of fraud and deception that involved federal student loans to pay for the courses. The state's attorney general's office and the Department of Agriculture's Consumer Services division have also received reports for further investigation.

    The primary reason for this complaint is that the courses taken as part of their online psychology program lacked academic integrity and quality of instruction. I have reported the issues to the appropriate university administration and they seem uninterested in resolving them. In fact, the university's top financial officer, Julia Q*****, who is the director of student financial services, verbally abused me over the phone when attempting to mediate a settlement, prompting me to report her to the human resources department for disciplinary action.

    Over the years, I have done business in the amount of more than 40 thousand dollars with the university and have witnessed deceptive and unfair practices by them on numerous occasions. I have maintained my status as a top academic performer at the university and believe the experiences I've been through are unacceptable as a consumer. The business transaction in question for this complaint involved one course paid for with my debit card in the amount of $1,530 on April 6, 2022, that I'd like to report. I would like to resolve this complaint by having BBB.org settle on my behalf for a partial refund.
