    8/24/2022 Insurance paid $171.86 8/24/2022 I was billed and I paid $215.00 Two years later, company has changed hands and they are now trying to bill me an additional $60 on 2/13/2024. My FSA from 2 years ago is closed out. My taxes are paid. I paid everything I was billed two years ago. Can they "invent" a new charge and try to make me pay it two years later? I tried calling and writing a letter but they didn't respond.

    Here is our business statement for ID#********

     

    ******************************* was seen by *********************************** 8/24/2022. His insurance Health First Health Plans applied a copay of $40.00 to his visit and did not cover the refraction charge. The refraction charge is denied as a benefit exclusion. I spoke to *** today 5-24-24 REF# ********-084202 to verify this.  They do give an allowable for this service of 23.14.  I corrected this posting today and his correct balance for this date of service is $43.14. 

     

    We original posted Health First payment on 11-12-22 but failed to transfer the patient balance to him until 2-13-24.  Auto posting will at times leave patient balances pending the insurance instead of the patient.  So as the staff work pending old claims/AR they found his balance was still sitting on as pending insurance when it should have been transferred to the patient to be billed out. This is why he just got a statement February of 2024.  

    ****** did call our office and left a voicemail on 2-26-24 inquiring about his balance. This was emailed out to my staff, I do not see a reply or any notes that my staff called him back. For this and the late billing I do apologize. 

     

    However, I do not see a payment made to us by ****** in the amount of $215.00.  I do have a payment of $20.00, ***** 0525 made on 8/24/22.  This payment was put towards his $40.00 copay leaving his balance as $43.14.  I faxed you a copay of his payment and the itemized ledger for his date of service 8/24/2022.  

     

    Please let us know if there is anything else we can do to help resolve this.
