Obsidian Financial Services made us miss multiple closing dates because of their slowness and incompetence. They first promised a 17 Dec 21 closing, so we could enjoy Christmas with our kids in the new house, but to sum up the story in a line, "Christmas destroyed". After we showed up to the title company, no documents were sent for closing, when we called Obsidian, the loan officer we worked with had many excuses and told us not to lose our patience, he also said, his words not mine, "closing was still a possibility". We did not close on 17 Dec after multiple calls and arrangements with the title company, it was just not possible. This was the beginning of a 3-week nightmare. Missing our initial closing date put me on edge, I have 2 senior citizens and 3 minors, I am responsible for. After this, I followed up daily with my loan officer, it was nothing but surprise after surprise. No inspections were done, appraisal was not finished, documents were not sent for signing, and every other possible option to not receive a clear to close from the underwriter. To this point I cannot comprehend how the 17th of December was even a target date for closing when Obsidian did not have their act together. Between false promises, 3 rental trucks packed and unpacked because of closing date cancellations and finding a place where to live while Obsidian got their stuff together, three weeks passed by of constant struggle, stress, pressure, anguish. We spent Christmas at a hotel room, the wife and I had the worst time getting to adjust to the constant getting items from here/there since everything was packed. We took leave on two different occasions because hopes were given for closing, but guess what, leave was wasted. After all, we were finally able to close on 5 Jan 22 after having to live in a hotel room since 17 Dec but not without a last-minute surprise of, "you can't move into the house today, there are still pending items". They made our Christmas/New Year's challenging.
