    We sent the letter in to cancel on Jan 2, 2023. We tried the gym out but it wasn't really for us and wanted to cancel by the 10th (as per their terms) and that would give the letter 8 days to travel 4 miles. The membership wasn't cancelled. They said to send someone in, but husband stopped by the location as I am out of State with work and not ANYWHERE close to a Planet Fitness, but was told it had to be me as the named person on the account. They asked if we sent the letter certified, but I did not; our mail service here is really good. I see on the last complaint that THEY REQUIRE IT, but I have attached a photo of the direct statement given by their website saying that it is preferred or suggested but not required. Now, they say we OWE money, for the months that we haven't used the gym because they didn't cancel it and refuse to cancel the membership even if i send a certified letter without me paying off the imaginary debt that has only accumulated due to the convenience that they have "Not received a letter" meaning every month I am racking up debt with them unless I pay the strong armed robbery price. The fact that they are allowed to use this method is ridiculous, and a quick search shows that there are MANY MANY MANY people who's letters "Just go missing". I have enough debt. I wanted to Improve my life. Not make it worse. Please cancel the membership and delete my banking info and delete the "Debt"

    We are going to cancel this membership since the member is not in a contract agreement. A cancellation letter will be emailed to the member for their records.
